Default Water pump replacement issue

I was gonna replace my water pump, I’m guessing I tightened the M8 screws to much and the ears of the water pump broke. What can I do to pull it completely out ?

or do I have to remove the timing cover now ?

Sorry to hear that, you're in a bit of a pickle. If the ears broke off, then most likely yes, you will need to pull the timing cover. I don't think there's enough room through the maintenance window to get a puller or pry bar on it. The FSM removal procedure involves using those same ears to walk out the pump with different sized bolts. If the ears fell down into the timing case, then you will for sure need to remove the cover to extract them. You might be able to cobble a custom tool together for removing the pump in it's current state, but that's not something you can provide guidance for over the interwebs.
Good Luck!

Default Water pump

Luckily the ears did not fall, I think I figured out a way to pull it without opening the timing cover. If it works I will put what I did later today.

thank you for your response and advice
