I just went to cars.com......anf inquired about a new 2005 350z. Sent it to my dealer and one other. Stipulated that I need a Guarantee that the 2005 350z's tire/alignment issue was resolved. I received an answer from the "other dealer"......not mine ( they already know the "stink I've thrown toward them and Nissan-1).
Guys, my opinion is that it is not the dealer's fault for Nisssan producing lemons and expecting them to fix them. It is true that some dealers are better than others. But, when a car is defective and the car maker can't even provide a true fix (not a band aid like giving free tires till you run out of warranty), it is not fair to blame a dealer. The engineers work for Nissan Corp and designed our lemons!

Another note, I have offically gone legal. I contacted a lemon law attorney and he feels that I can win my case. I am ready to proceed with a stipulation that my selling dealer is not involved at all because my dealer is a friend of the family. I feel he should not be involved because he only sold me the car, not designed it, as well has never serviced it because I am in another state and let other dealers service it. If my lawyer replies to my request to not involve my dealer, then I am going forward. If not, then I will eat my lemon and get rid of it myself. I have seen where the BBB was suggested to contact. I can say I also previously did that and got nowhere. I feel that if each individual contacts a true personal lawyer, we could all win. The word is out that these 350's are lemons, so it is time for Nissan to step up. We might win the class action lawsuit, but they usually take for ever. I would be on 9 sets of tires if I waited on that. It is now or never for me. Unless my lawyer advised me to advertise my outcome, I will post how it turns out. Otherwise, please pray for me! ha ha

True, the dealer did not design the vehicle. However, the dealer did sell me the vehicle in Sept. 2003, knowing the 2003 350Z's had the tire/alignment problems. They did not mention the potential problems.....just said sign on the dotted line.

I don't know if we are going to know about the 05's tires until around March time frame when enough of them have accumulated the 5,000 or more miles to determine if the tire roar is still there. Good luck in finding a dealer that will take care of the customer and stand up for the rights of the customer instead of protecting the Nissan image and saying it is not a car problem and that it is the customers responsobility to have the alignment done no matter what the miles. My selling dealer said I should have had an alignment prior to 12,000 miles and I would not have had a problem. By 13,000 miles my tires were completely worn out! Nissan just needs to accept the blame and pay to have the cars really repaired and not the band aid fix we are getting with the alignment and tire replacement.

god I hope and pray the 05's never make it onto this thread

3 years later I would think Nissan would get the message and fix the problem permanently before another years worth of Z's fill the roads.

If they dont make it then you know they changed something. Whatever they changed we should know about it.

Just go by the dealership, that's what I did this week any Z they have on the lot will have the new design on it. To me it looks like they are already worn out. There is not near the amount of outside tread anymore and the cuts on outer edge do not go all the way through the first row of treads.

IMO this is just going to fix the tire so it doesn't roar when its wearing funny, so basically you will not notice a problem until the tire is showing the belts. But I hope I am wrong and it fixes the whole problem because I am getting tired of this. I first went to the dealership on Oct. 6, 2004 and I still don't have new tires.

I went to the dealer today to change my tires under warranty and they said that nissan is no longer exchanging tires. Is this true...I'm pissed off.

You should have your NNA notice that was mailed to all 2003 350Z owners last spring. Go back and take it with you. Better yet, find a dealer that is willing to work with you.

I am going to call my lawyer to see what he can do. Maybe all of the Z owners in the LA area can get together and we can do a big lawsuit against nissan.

I just got a letter from my dealer inviting me to a "special sale" where they will off me a "generous trade in value" for any new vehicle.

It mentions nothing about the Z or the tire problems.. But this seems a little fishy to me.

Nothing fishy. I get them from the local Ford dealer all the time.

Default Yippee!!

Today was a great day! I finally got my replacement tires for the front and I can't believe the difference . Man, I knew the feathering roar was pretty bad but my car is so quiet now. Word of advice for anybody waiting on replacements you got to keep calling the dealership, don't be mean just be persistent.

I just happend to call on Monday and at first they said "no, no tires yet....then oh wait a sec...hang on......yeah we do have a set bring it on in". I know that if I wouldn't have called, somebody else would have gotten those tires. I went ahead and dropped it off on Monday so they could install first thing on Tuesday but they were not able to do the alignment until today. I waited 3 months for this day and was about to trade my car, but with the new design REO40 it rides so quiet, it made me feel like I have a brand new car again.

Best of luck to everyone that is waiting.

I just got off the phone with 1-800-NISSAN1. I’ve called them 11 times since Nov 9th and today was the first time someone called me back. For those of you who have not read my past posts, I took my car every 3750 miles to my Nissan dealership and at 14729 miles they told me that my front tires were worn to the belt and that I needed an alignment which is 2229 miles past the point were the warranty would cover my issue.

So in the phone call from the supervisor at Nissan North America they accept no responsibility for my tires and feel that the dealership should cover the issue. Well at 14729 when the dealership discovered the issue they would not even give me a free alignment (yes I asked for one) so why now would they agree to give me a free set of tires and an alignment??? The person from 1-800-NISSAN1 said that my dealership checked my alignment each time from 3780 miles on and each time it was in alignment. So how did my tires wear down to the belt in only 14729 miles??? I’ve been told by a Firestone dealer that people get 30-60,000 miles from the Bridgestone Potenza REO40’s yet at 9000 miles mine started the road roar and at 14729 I was told not to exceed speeds of 60 MPH until I could get new tires. The person from 1-800-NISSAN1 also told me that there is nothing different from a ‘03 and ‘04 350Z except the way they were tied down on the boat when they were shipped over here to the US.

My question to people who have unloaded their Z’s, do I have enough info to move forward with the BBB or a lawyer and make Nissan North America buy back my Z???? I live in North Carolina and under my states section of the 2004 warranty book it says that I am not entitled to repurchase until my Nissan dealer has had a ‘reasonable number of repair attempts’. I’m really confused and need someone who went through the process to give me some guidance/advice because after 71 days of dealing with this issue I feel that I haven’t moved forward.

My email is kirkmountain@yahoo.com. Thanks for any help/stories/advice in advance.
