I have an 04' with 7000 miles and only 10 months old and nissan will NOT cover 04''s.
I was told by the S.E. rep to try to get the DEALER to cover the cost, but nissan will NOT paid for tires on 04's.
Thats why I now have a lawyer on the case.

They are covered until you pass the 12,500 mile make. Make the dealership replace them and give you an alignment on Nissan North America's dime.

I've had a '03 and now have an '04...they both had the tire problems. Nissan will replace and align the tires on the '04 and if you dealer say's they won't they're lying. The problem now is getting the tires. It took 2 1/2 months for my new tires to come in. You should also call Nissan1 and get a file number maybe once they see the numbers....yeh, I know, whatever.

The dealer will end up eating the cost of the tires, when they submit a warranty claim to NNA it will be denied which is fine...but NISSAN should take care of thier customers. none of us should have to go from dealer to dealer to find one willing to eat the cost.
That being said maybe i'll try another dealer.

Seabass. I had over 13,000 on my 2004 and NNA paid for the tires and the alignment. The purchasing dealer wouldn't even look at the car but NNA told me to take it to another dealer that hooked me up.

I had 29,000 miles on my Z. Was waiting for my 3rd set (on backorder till April 2005). All sets Nissan agreed to pay, however, if I had waited for the 3rd set, my Z would have been past 36,000 miles. I traded it. If you go to cars.com......put in 100 miles, there are numerous Z's for sale by dealers....at a premium price. They know what's wrong with them, but still try to screw you.

UPDATE ON MY 2004 ENTHUSIAST (10.6k miles).....
Took it to the dealer and they did the alignment without question, but said that only the 2003 got free tires at this point. However, I called 800-NISSAN1 and opened a claim. The next step is that in the next 24-48 hours, the regional service manager will contact the local dealer and make the decision of new tires or not. Sterling-McCall, the dealer here in Houston that I am working with have been very helpful so far and did document the wear on the tires for the regional service manager. Will let you know what happens next!
And just for clarification, I LOVE my Z and wouldn't think of getting rid of it.

Update on 2004 Enthusiast (10k miles)
Ok,
Just got word that Nissan has agreed to pay for my front tires. This was decided by the regional service manager for Nissan... NOT the local dealer service manager. However, it might have been noted by the local dealer that I have a tendancy to have fits on showroom floors when lied to.
About a month ago, they tried blaming my check engine light on my aftermarket amplifiers that use the standard STOCK Nissan wiring harness for a STOCK Nissan Bose stereo. They lost the arguement along with any customers that might have been on the floor at the time.
Anyway, no problem on getting replacement tires on a 2004 350Z.
ps my 350Z went into operation March, 2004

They had the tires in stock and I have my new ones. No problems.
Nissan did take a few extra days to approve it and I just got in there today to have them put on, but overall, it was pretty painless. But I have to say, this board did more good for the cause than anything. By knowing exactly what you are talking about and quoting their own service bulletins, they have a good idea right off the bat that you have a case and you know it.
Good luck! Will post again if the problem comes back, but I know they did do another alignment with the new tires, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I love my Z!

Smithville is a little place east of Austin, but we are pretty much in the middle of nowhere outside Smithville. My Nissan work is done in Houston because I work down there most of the time, and Sterling-McCall is just across the street.

2005 350Z's Too
A Nissan Sales Manager recently responded to my question: do the '05's have the same suspension/tire-feathering problem as the '03 and '04? He said....yes. If you get a Z, better plan on replacing front tires every 15,000 miles.
I wish my tape recorder had been in place.
