Default NA Z 1-60psi oil reading???

Goodmorning every1,

I don't like to post on this particular section for obvious reasons.. But I noticed my oil guage this morning was having some very low readings that have me concerned. I noticed when under acceleration to 6k the oil pressure read only around 60psi. The usual seems to be 90. I only did this twice to confirm as I'm not fond of having a drastically lower oil pressure and still running the engine hard. I also noticed that at idle the oil pressure definately dips below the 30 line. It resembles the oil pressure readings of turbo'd Z's where they seem to have quite low oil psi @ idle. However I do not have any turbo's, or components that would affect this. Hell I had a timing chain cover leak in tons of places and even then the PSI was rock solid at the normal 90ish psi under hard acceleration. I did a little engine look over this morning under shitty light conditions but did not notice any noticeable oil resedue anywhere. My exhaust tips are dirty and brown/blackish from running so damn rich. (I have no cats). I did nismo cams months ago @ nissan dealership where the install went very well. Also at one point when I engaged the clutch and was coasting the car around a turn I noticed the oil psi guage registered all the way down to just above zero! WTF!? then it went back up to around 30-40psi.

I have an oil change today about 3:30pm. But thinken I'm going to try and get the car in there much sooner to have them check it out. I'm only approaching 500 miles over 3k on the oil change, so it's not like hell froze over.

It also may be worth mentioning that two days ago my rpm tach got stuck at 1300rpm's and stayed there for a few minutes. I was about to pull over and restart the car to see if that had any affect. I was going up probably into the 3k-4k rpm range when it finally started registering again... Dunno what the heck that was all about, but weird none-the-less, which I'm going to mention too.

I've also tried restarting the car 3 times now, still the same, the psi guage is definately registering oil pressure at a noticeably lower psi now... Anyone else have a problem/occurance like this before?

damn. there has to be a reason why it was that low. a new car shouldn't be using oil like that. make sure they give it a good once over at the oil change.

Better start having the dealer track your oil consumption.
Engines are getting replaced for that issue.

^ That's new info, thanks for the insight 350ed.

This is the first time I"ve ever seen the car even used oil noticeably. I mean I've been going on cruises and running pretty hard, but I've been doing that forever, just been keeping up with my oil changes etc.. But this was new and quite alarming. I don't want to get my engine changed just cause of the cams 'n headers, but... if that has to be the case, then I'll need to go ahead and do that... damn
