Default Gas related question...

I got a small hole just below my gas cap nozel where it appears some gas had run down after filling up and melted part of the plastic....

Is this normal or should I take it into Nissan?

That plastic certainly should not be affected by gasoline. More likely a manufacturing defect. Take it to Nissan.

Hi,

Now, if you are talking about the rubber or plastic well that connects your gas nozzle to the body of the car, there's supposed to be a hole at the bottom of the circular plastic well for drainage. That's supposed to catch any gas coming off of the nozzle as you remove it from the car or rainwater and drain it down a drain line behind the car body. If that's not the piece you're talking about, can you provide a picture of the piece in question?

All of the parts in the gas system can tolerate fuel exposure. The paint will withstand gas also, as long as it is not a continuous wet contact situation. The plastic liner has a drain hole to let spilled gas go to the ground.
