I just bought a black 04 350Z basic 6 days ago. It shows a manufacture date of, April 2004. I owned a 280-Z back in 1976 and enjoyed it tremendously! I have always believed that Datsun/Nissan was a quality company who stood proudly behind their product!

As I have been looking through this web site I have been surprised to “stumble” into the premature tire wear (feathering/cupping) and tire noise problem!

Of course, no one told me about the problem at the dealer but in hind site – I should have done more research BEFORE making the purchase.

What are the chances that I too will experience this problem?? Has Nissan made any corrections to resolve the problem in 04???

the chances are probably about 90% that you will experience the problem. those who have high mileage and have never experienced the problem are pretty rare. but it sounds like replacing the tires with higher tread tires like michelin pilots improves things a lot. the g35 has the same suspension but has michelin pilots (i believe) and feathering doesn't show up until around 20k.

 

If it is not too late (probably is) you should return it IMO. Especially if you live in CA and drive a lot.
