Default Fixing front Clunk in SUspension

I have the front suspension clunk but I dont want to bring it to the dealer for it ideally because I dont know the exact conditions to reproduce it. It just seems to happen sometimes. As such, the dealer is gonna say there is nothing wrong because they are, well, useless.

So Im looking to fix the problem myself. In the bulletin on Nissan Help, they make it seem really easy, like its just a matter of taking the wheel off and getting your hand in with the tool to tighten the bolt.

However, this: RIDICULOUSLY LONG PROCEDURE! Makes it seem much harder.

So do I really need to disassemble the whole car to get to those two bolts or is it just easier to take all those things out?

I have this problem too. Mine does it often so it's not hard to reproduce. I'm gonna print that page out take it to the dealership and have them fix it.

I just tried to do what that sheet says to do but those bolts seem to be on pretty tight to me. I guess you need stronger tools or something. Doesnt help that I was worried the car would move and crush my leg....eek.

Anyone have an idea as to what exactly I can do to reproduce this noise on the spot?

I took mine in for that clunking sound but did not stick around for a test drive to reproduce the noise myself, when I came to pick up my car they said it could not be reproduced, anyways I am taking it in this week. I heard it was a loose control arm it happens when backing up from my driveway and I turn the steering wheel or I brake hard on a stop. I would take it instead of doing it myself so its on paper and another of my Z problem is documented. My service write up receipt stack is getting thicker.

I got the front clunk noise fixed yesterday, I dropped off the car with the TSB in hand and they did not make me reproduce it. I picked it up made some serious u-turns and not one noise, normally it happened QUITE often on slow turns or hard turns so I would take the tsb in with you, tell them you have this problem constantly and you want them to fix it.

My control arms were noticably loose when I went to tighten them. All bolts took 1/4 to 1-1/4 turn. After that no clunk. You should also check the underbody brace. Everytime I have taken that off, it needs a day of driving before I can tighten it up enough to not pop.

Mine's has been making that clunking noise for some time now. It tends to happen when I back out of my driveway or make a sharp turn at low speeds.

I was looking for the TSB on it, but I didn't find it in the TSB section on this forum. Am I looking in the wrong place? Could someone help me out and post the link to the TSB mentioned? My thanks, in advance.

Go to nissanhelp.com and go to the 'suspension' section for the 350z, not to mention all the other tsb's are listed for the car you may have up to 10 of the problems listed but you didn't even know it My car has been in for 7 tsb's so far =(

I took mine in with the TSB in hand like supirio said and got my clunking fixed. I didn't have to test drive Service advisor first tried to say the TSB printout was not nissans but was surprised when I showed him the web site address reading www.infinitihelp.com.....on bottom of page, even asked if he could keep the printout. It a quick fix would not do it myself they have a specific torque spec. That infinitihelp web site has a link for the Z Thanks again guys and good luck

Me too... now I have a problem with the left speaker where I loose treble (or possibly one of the smaller speakers behind me on the left actually disconnects) when I go around a fast turn... anyone got any suggestions on that one?
