Just changed myself today (first time since I got my Z),
Cost was $30 ( $20 for 5 qt of Mobil 1 0W-40, $5 for oil filter and drain plug washer, $5 for 1hr lift time at my local auto hobby shop). I was a little pissed when I realized that one of the screws used to secure the underbody cover was stripped. The dealer where I had my last oil change probably used power tools where they should have used hand tools.

BTW, I bought Mobil-1 by the quart at $3.23 a quart. I bought 3 cases, and I didn't pay tax either.

I do my own oil, I had my first oil change for free by the dealer, but after seeing how they do the oil, I have done my own since. One guy here had the dealer do his oil, and they overfilled by 4-5 gallons.
No disrespect intended, but I think you mean 5-quart jug and overfilling by 4-5 quart even I am doubtul it is possible. A quart or two, sure.

The dipstick is one of the more PITA ones to read, too, and with such a small filter I can see where people just wouldn't think a 3.5l V-6 wouldn't take more oil.
