Exclamation Engine cut out while doing 70mph on the hw!

I have an '03 Enthusiast w/ 22k and this morning, the engine cut out while doing 70mph on the highway (after stalling three times at a red light just before getting on the highway). All of the warning lights came on as well. It's getting towed to the dealership right now. I live in Pennsylvania, and the temp dropped last night to the lowest it's been since last winter, so I'm thinking that might have something to do with it.
I checked the affected VINs for the cam sensor recall, but my vin didn't fall into the range. Still waiting to hear from the dealership. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Notice any smells? ARE you auto or manual? I had a problem with an oil leak on a previous car that would just cut off but it would never do it at higher speeds, so i'm not sure. I'm sure the dealer will be able to figure it out and hopefully it is covered under warranty. Good luck

I am guessing it is a bad throttle position sensor. I have seen it before.

Just talked to the dealership, and they said it's the Mass Airflow Sensor. Then the tech said it's covered under warranty this time, but b/c I have a K&N airfilter, if it happens again it won't be.

I can't believe that Nissan makes a sensor that will fail b/c of a drop-in performance air filter. The K&N has been in there for a year and a half (I think I bought it the same week I got my Z). What the hell happens if I put a Pop Charger/CAI on? I'm going to contact K&N to see what they have to say about this.

Hey the same thing is kinda happening to me too. The eng. would cut in and out. Yesterday the car couldn't even past 2k w/o it bogging out. I think i'm having the same problem.

If you were going to have an issue with the MAS due to the oil on your K&N filter, you would have experienced that long ago. (unless you recently cleaned and re-oiled it). The problem is really the result of some other factor and what they are saying is that the K&N filter will be their excuse for not warranting it again.

The Tech apparently does not understand the law. What evidence did he offer to show that the filter directly caused the meter to fail? He, by ACT OF CONGRESS, has to do so. Like Z'd said, if it was going to cause a problem, it would have caused it immediately. Dealers suck. Period.

There was a recall on certain '03's due to a cam lift sensor issue that caused the engine to cut without warning, could this be it??

I doubt it. Like I said, my VIN doesn't fall into the recall range. I guess that doesn't necessarily rule it out, but the dealership is telling me that they're waiting for the replacement air sensor to come in. It's been 11 days now.........
