I'm sorry, I should have said they are Huskies. Saban is AKC registered with paperwork, Allie G we rescued from the Siberian Husky Rescue of Florida. She had been run over when she was small, and placed in the pound with a broken leg and hip. The rescue folks took her from there, paid for $2000.00 in surgeries and then we adopted her two years ago and she is awesome. Saban is now 6 and Allie G is 3. Because of her previously broken leg she now sits on the couch like a person, kicked back with her leg out, leaning on the armrest. Its really funny. they are awesome dogs.

That's fantastic, I want so badly but it has to be a puppy. I want to have the enjoyment of raising it and training it. I will eventually get one, but I have other things I need to do first in order to make my living environment friendly to a dog, especially a husky.

I live in an apartment right now with some friends of mine. I did bring up the fact that I wanted a dog but they said no way. I definitely need a house with a decent sized yard for a dog like that; I hear they are very energetic. Plus the Z is my only car, so I need to work on getting another car for the dog too. Maybe get a girlfriend who likes dogs also so she can help me take care of it. I work M-F for 8-9 hours a day and I'm really against caging a dog while I'm at work. I think the dog should be free to roam the house if it chooses.

So... my checklist for the dog:
[ ] Get a house.
[ ] Get a new car.
[ ] Maybe get someone to help me take care of it while I'm at work.

You know, I'd probably have one if it wasn't for my Z. My Z was supposed to be my downpayment for a house.

LOL you hear correct. they have energy to spare, but you have the right idea with the house and all. they need outside time (but we always let them choose how much cause its so hot down here and they like AC), and a vehicle other than the Z is best. My wife has a 4Runner and that works great, they love riding. We bought Saban at 8 weeks old and it is great to raise them from a little pup. Our hearts went out to little Allie G. We just felt like we could give her a great home and she had been through soooo much. Its funny, because Saban thinks he is entitled to everything and Allie G is just so grateful to have a home. Completely opposite.

LSUturbotiger, how much would they cost if I got a puppy that was AKC registered? I was told not to buy any husky pups if they weren't registered.

We paid $475 for Saban 6 years ago, so you can expect somewhere in that neighborhood. I would agree that you should get the registered dog if you can with a husky, you want to make sure they grow up to look like a husky. With Allie G, when we rescued her she was old enough that we could tell she was a full bred husky, but we just don't know her family history. You're going to love having one because you sound like the perfect husky owner who understands how they are. Good Luck!

Someone posted pics of their trip to Rio the other day, made me reminisce. Enjoy...

Sugar Loaf mountain/Ipanema beach (or Copa, can't remember)
