Default What Digi cam are you shooting...

I've kinda decided that I'm going to get a new digi cam with my tax return, and was curious what peps are using.

I was kinda looking at the Panasonic FZ20, 5mp, 12x zoom, Image stabilization. The FZ30 came out recently so you can pick up the older model for a really decent price...

Don't want an SLR, but want to have some more capability than a basic point and shoot....

Suggestions appreciated

I use a DSC-F828 and have a DSC-M2 on the way for video. Neither are perfect, but are decent for what I do.

Have a look at www.dpreviews.com - the reviews there are very complete and honest. If a camera rates a "Highly Recommended" it's top notch and one out of several dozens cameras.

I highly recommend that you put your eyes and hands on the camera you plan to buy as everyone has different eyes and hands. I like my cameras smaller and my view finders optical rather than electronic but have had an EVF and it wasn't that bad.

DPreviews has a camera finder where you enter in various requirements and the database returns the matching cameras.

I'm looking hard a the Canon Digital Rebel XP or the Olympus E-500 for my next camera but I'll wait until the end of Feburary when Canon normally releases their next generation. Olympus came out with their's this week and the only big camera is the new E-330 which doesn't meet my needs.

Have fun.

I agree with Paul, that's what I use too. There are other places, but dpreview is the most comprehensive IMO.

IMO Nikon Coolpix series of cameras are very good.
The name might sound a little unreliable, but despite that, they have great lenses, great features, fast response, compact and functional.

Well I've kinda narrowed it down to Sony H1, Canon S2, or Pansonic FZ20... I'm going to have to go and get my hands on them to decide i guess
