Congratulations! I myself have a Daytona Blue Enthusiast which I have had for just two weeks. I've only driven it about 500 miles (I live near Seattle-RAIN), but I already love this car!
I know that it doesn't have leather or the Brembos, but with Cruise, TCS, ABS, Limited Slip, Climate Control, Xenons, PW, PL, PM, this car is still loaded. Plus I only paid $27900 for it with the aero kit, kickplates, floormats, and trunk mats. A heck of a deal.
Last car I had was a 1995 Prelude VTEC, and although it was a nice car, the Z kicks it **** thoroughly in every way.
Anyhow, I hope I was able to get you even more excited about your Z car! BTW, the white looks great on the Z, but then again so does every other color!

MAN! you only paid $27900 for a Enthusiast model WITH the aero kit? I ordered mine (black enthusiast) about a month and a half ago. My price is $29988. It's not set in stone yet but that's just what the dealer wrote up as he prepared the file on it. Did you do some "wheelin and dealin" with the guy? Did you have a trade in for it too? I want to get the aero kit on mine too mainly because I haven't seen too many black ones here that have the aero kit on them. Plus this dude at school has a black Enthusiast (or maybe base, can't tell from the outside) without the aero, so you KNOW I gotta 1 up 'em. Let me know what kind of deal you struck with your dealer. I may try to hit mine up with the same thing.

Yeah, I wheeled and dealed with him. As luck would have it when I went in they were short staffed and the Sales Manager himself had to help me. He was really cool and let me take a Sunset Enthusiast for a test drive by myself!!!! He threw me the keys, photocopied my Driver's License and I was off. Unfreaking believable. After he trusted me with the demo car like that, I decided I was going to buy from him no matter if I had to pay full MSRP. He was a younger guy about my age I think. I'm 28 myself.
Then, I hemmed and hawed over the Blue Enthusiast on the lot because it had all of the options I didn't/couldn't pay for. Another guy went in to buy it, but he couldn't get financed. I waited until the end of the month and went in preappoved through my bank w/$3500 down. He told me MSRP + options & I told him $27000 cash. He was very cool about it and we agreed on 27900+tax/title.
One thing I must mention though is that I also have a Nissan pickup which I have serviced there regularly and I mentioned this when I bought the car. Heck he even threw in a 350Z hat!

i've never thought of that.....i'm only 19 right now so buying car's is a somewhat new experience....my current vehicle, my folks did most of the talking, and that got me a pretty lousy payment plan.
but by using my own bank, i might be able to get a much better deal for the Z.

what are the pros/cons by going about a car purchase this way?? if any?
Hi Trac,
Yeah getting preapproved with your OWN bank gives you a much stronger purchasing position than waiting around for the finance manager at a dealership. When I bought my Prelude back in 1995, I went the dealer finance route and when I was ready to sign the papers they had inserted a $1500 extended warranty plan in with the financing!!! I was pissed, but caved under pressure. I was young, but I later swore NEVER to be taken again by a dealership.
Anyhow, all I did was call my bank, tell them what I wanted, how much I wanted to put down and they overnighted me a preappoved check for up to $37000.00. The key thing to me getting such a good deal was waiting until the last day of the month. I went in, told the Sales Manager I was paying cash and was ready to buy NOW. When they seemed like they weren't going to budge off of MSRP I thanked them for their time and got ready to leave.
I came back home and within 30 minutes the sales manager called me back and said he was willing to come off of MSRP since he "liked me." I then told him my time was very valueable to me and if I came back down I wanted a deal beforehand. He said 28500 and I was like 27000 cash/firm. He then came down to 27900 and I then said "you got a deal Sir!" I had my GF drive me down to the dealership and an hour later my Z was in my hot little hands!
Even at 27900 with the options, the dealer made a cool $2900 profit, so it wasn't like I robbed them or anything. And there is NO WAY IN HECK I would pay that much over invoice on any other car, but with the way everyone was pricing Zs I think I made out OK.
Last piece of advice Trac, remember YOU are the one who is going to have to make that monthly payment for the next 4-5 years. Don't let the salespeople pressure you into anything! When I was 19, I would've gotten robbed blind had I walked into a car dealership. Best of Luck buying your new Z. Like I said, the white is a great color on the Z, it will be rare as a bonus I'm sure.

WOW!!
thank you guys for the info! that's some serious stuff there!!! man, i'm sure they'd be pretty impressed if a young guy like me walked in with this kind of a plan!
Now the only problem is getting the bank to loan me that much damn money!
I guess i could get my mother to co-sign for me, get the intrest down a bit and get the total amount increased a bit.
although i'm still about 4-6months away from even being able to purchase, this advice will seriously help! also by that time i don't think that dealers will be marking up the Z's as much, so if the powers that be are with me, i could walk out with a $27K enthusiast model.
i really appreciate this advice guys. now i must go in search of banks that will give me this type of loan.

ps: "le mans sunset" is owning me right now.....i'm just waiting to see some anthracite/gunmetal wheels with a polished lip to come out and complete the look that's in my head.

Trac,
You could try www.peoplefirst.com, my buddy went with them on his new Altima and only has great things to say about them. I'm in the Air National Guard so I went through USAA Financial. Good luck on getting your Z-ride!
