Wow! Any more pics? How long have you had the car? what kind of shape was it in when you got it? WOW! Awesome car man, one of the coolest muscle cars ever made IMHO.

That is a pretty ride

 

It was originally my father's, who bought it directly from Carroll Shelby's Factory in California in the latter half of 1967. He built and put the rare 427 Tunnelport High-Rise (according to my father and SAAC [Shelby American Automobile Club], that engine alone is worth over $38,000 because it's a Tunnelport High-Rise) that's in there back in the early 70s. The engine was rebuilt at the same classic car restoration garage in Conneticut that I got the paint job.
When I started working on it several years ago, it had been sitting in my father's garage for over 20 years - hence the very low mileage on the car.

Performance-wise, my father and I tested the car at Pocono Raceway. 200+ MPH down the frontstretch, and can run high 9s in the quarter mile, with the proper gearing, of course.

Yep, it's a very nice ride and I must give props to anything put out by Carroll Shelby.

However, you and your dad must have been a little light-headed that day at Pocono. Real 427 Cobra SCs can't pull those kind of numbers and they pack more punch with less weight. Not to mention the '67 Mustang body (even with Shelby body fairings) would be none too stable over 200 mph.

Go back to the track and bring the real timeslips. I'm sure I'll be very impressed, but those numbers above are just not believable.

Not to mention you need about 3 factors to be sub 10 seconds. Lightweight, good traction, and assuming super lightweight around 500hp at least I'd say. With just traction and not that lightweight, I'd say more like 700-800hp.

Anyhow, cool car, kind of crazy performance stats though...

 

Yep, the Shelby 500 was a top contender street machine in it's day. Neat to see one in such great condition still around. It kinda made me reminisce to my last run with a blue one (Cobra 500) early in the morning on I-75 in mid-Florida -- last I saw of the Shelby was a big cloud of blue smoke in my rearview when he blew his engine... We were running well over 140 based on how long my speedo had been pegged... LOL.... Those were the days...

Below is an idea of the match-up for the run -- mine was a bored and stroked triple-deuce with Hurst 4-speed close-ratio... Fun days... sigh...
