Gruppe-M Intake Install + Authentic Vertex, Work, HKS and more
First and foremost I’d like thank a trusted sponsor on the site, Street Image for the sweet install on my Gruppe –M Carbon Fiber Intake. For those who don’t know Street Image has been around for several years. They specialize in installs and aftermarket parts for almost any car. The shop also works on corporate cars such as Toyota (for SEMA), DUB Cars, NASCAR Race Cars, and LA ballers – in fact David Beckam’s black Escalade on 26’s was at the shop a few weeks ago.
SoCal is very fortunate to have many good shops to choose from in addition to WCN and PN. I’ve had only positive experiences at Street Image for my Motordyne 5/16 IsoThermal Spacer install, 60 K Tune Up w/ all fluids changed, Hotchkis Springs Install, and most recently my Gruppe- M Intake install. They’re willing to work around my schedule and get the job done right. I drive about 100 miles a day to and from work, the only time I have is after 4:30pm. They were able to accommodate me late on the weekdays and also on the weekends. I’ve tried all the major shops in the LA,OC, IE area and I can honestly say they are one of the very best. They’re very busy, so it’s best to give them a call before coming down (626) 962-1503 or you can always message their Manager Dru sn “MEECHIN”. They are a very respected sponsor on this site and they can also order parts for you if you’re in another State. In fact, I’ve seen them do work on customer’s cars with New York plates. So, it’s just not a SoCal thing.
Ok picture time! Yes, I know this makes as much HP as most of the intakes but I picked it up for the bling factor. Plus, I like the fact that the intake is enclosed and not subjected to a lot of hot air from the engine compartment.
I asked Eric, the owner, to make me a custom bracket for the Carbon Fiber Ram Air. The person I bought it from didn’t have the original bracket so I opted to place the ram air toward the driver side of the bumper. The reason I did this is so that I can still run my front Zee Bracket without blocking the intake duct. I know, Cali front plate laws suck.
I also asked Eric to install the duct through the bottom opening of the Gruppe M Intake box and not the usual front opening. I’m planning on getting the Varis duct down the line so that the opening would go directly to the box and the ram air would flow underneath, creating two air inlets. It’s like the opposite of this diagram.
Intake hose leading from the duct to the bottom inlet on the CF box.
If you're wondering what the car looks like, here are some recent pics from today's sunset in my neighborhood.
