industrial designers, chime in! =D

Some quick crap sketches I did for morning-warmups, nothing serious or themed after anything:

^ time to chime in and critique..

main thing..your 2pt perspective vanishing points are horid that it could possibly be a bad 3pt perspective..

wheels are distorted..photoshop isnt bad but the shadowing is off..

lol! np!

i use Corel painter off of traditional paper-and-pen hand sketches and a WACOM Intuous3

I only used PS to resize the canvas, other than that everything is hand render

im guessing you go to art academy over here? haha i dont really go to school for art so im not really good with rendering. wish i knew more techniques to get the lines off the sketch more clean on the comp. i kinda wish i had a little more schooling ill try downloading those programs and try them out

Very nice feedback, but only if Nissan wants cars that only turn right. The rear wheel is set to a constant right turn. Nice drawing though...(just busting your chops OP).

you don't need to go to a school to learn how to sketch and render well... a lot of it can be self taught by looking at car design magazines like Auto&Design... i learned how to sketch/render before entering design school...

nice sketches man... i too do this all the time in class. and when i was little i used to draw these quick sketches all over things; my bedroom wall, worksheets, napkins at restaurants... I usually start with one defining line and work my way around it. i just wish i held on to all of mine. but anywho again great job!

I use a black Pentel 1mm ballpoint pen to sketch on regular copy paper. I scan it and use either Photoshop or Alias Sketchbook to do the rendering. They both get the job done when it comes to rendering. Photoshop is more precise and Alias is more loose. The sketching takes about 10mins, and rendering about 30min, but can take up to an hr if you really put a lot of detail in it. This rendering above took about 45mins. I use to use guache, non-repro blue and baby powder, but that's the oldschool way. Now its all digital. But the basics remain the same.
