Ja, he's an odd chap. He has an E39 M5 with Louis Vitton logos stitched into the seats and the same stickers on the car... Likes to add badges and stuff that really shouldn't be there.
Another chap I know has an APS single turbo on his Z, has 20" rims, deep dish at the rear, coilovers etc... That's it, but it's so hot in it's simplicity, farks off too!
Will try find pics, I'm sure he's actually a forum member here...
yeah? I do like what he did to the front, it looks different but I does look very clean
always interesting to see styles/trends of other nations/areas.
thanks for posting.. some hard work went into those cars and it should be appreciated!
how much is it to import parts ? or are there s. african distributors? how come everyone is supercharged?
They're not all S/C. Some of those pictured are running either single or twin turbo configurations. The S/C conversion was the first one to make light and the lure of reliability makes it more popular.
RGMotorsport was the first in S.A to do the Vortech kit. So reliable was the conversion that Nissan S.A agreed to offer the S/C 350Z as a new car option. In other words you could walk into a Nissan Dealership and buy a S/C 350Z off the floor - backed by a warranty.
In terms of pricing things are pricier here than what they are your side. We do have agents and distributors but the lack of locally manufactured parts means that 95% of the items are imported, bumping the price up considerably.
RGM charges R85 000 for the conversion which is strictly bolt on, that translates to $8 500 at the current abortion of an exchange rate. (from R7/$ to R10/$ in less than a week...). It leaves you with 250kW (335hp).
Sweet looking cars. Two of them have similar audio setups?
Yeah, the black one and the green one. The installs were done by the same company, Auto Sound Engineering. The owners of the cars are sorta mates, but I don't think they wanted matching systems though, they just had the same list of requirements for the system it seems. Pity.
