Unhappy Early christmas present from a drunk driver..

Guy almost hit me head on, but i swerved to aviod it. poor Z

side airbag deployed, rear quarterpanel is gone, rear of door is messed up and sideskirt is gone. Idk what else is wrong yet.

UPDATE 1/7/10
$8,500 worth of damage not including any suspension damage that might have occurred or a new rim and they are not totaling it. What should the depreciated value be? any ballpark figures? Car is an 04 touring roadster with 70K miles on it.

in missouri its illegal to total a car just because the airbag went off. but it does add a big expense to the total bill so it helps them total it out for sure.

truly sorry about your z glad your ok

Sorry about the incident. This looks like $5,000. Believe insurance will write this off as a total loss.

EDIT: May change my opinion. Year and miles on your roadster?

That quarter looks like more than $5k, it looks like he got into the structural bits with that hit.

I actually think you're going to get stuck with a repaired car.

You need to contact an independent adjuster and take some steps to protect yourself
and your equity. Your insurer will try to screw you over. Sorry this happened.

Glad your okay, insurance will repair the car. They are gonna replace the rear quarter panel and re-skin the door, make sure you get some $$$$$$ for diminished value!!!! i had the same damages, damage $4,200 and diminished value $3,900

doubt they will repair an 04 if the repair bill comes close to 10k. i dont know about where you live, but if the repairs come out to 50% or more of the value of the car, you can fight to have it totalled i believe. wifes car was worth in their eyes 18k, damages were around 10k, they asked if we wanted it fixed, asked to have it totaled and they complied. how much is a 04 convert worth anyways?

It's worth about 13 or 14K now. I could care less about the car. I'm just glad I'm not dead. If I hadn't pulled to the shoulder when I did he would have hit me head on. Dude was super drunk. Stumbled out of the car when the cop, that was already chasing him before he hit me, told him to get out. Gun pulled and everything.
