it gets a salvage title if the insurance company says it's a total loss, but you accept less money from them and keep the car rather than accepting full payoff and letting them have the car. you can repair it and drive it, but it will have a salvage title which makes it harder to sell.

Hey guys, I don't make it on here as often as I should, but I saw some of you asked for updates on this. My car was NOT totaled. The guy who hit me, his insurance basically told me to work with my insurance (AAA) and choose a shop with them, then AAA will just bill them. That made it really easy so I found a great shop called Kniesel's in Rocklin. They did everything in house, new door, new rear quarter including glass, fixed rocker panel damage, painted, and the bill was around $11,000 and took about a month. Honestly I was thinking I would sell the car because I'm a perfectionist, but they did such a great job that I kept it and she is almost paid off now so I'm planning to do a full engine build, boost, transmission, etc.

Forgot to mention that the previous quote for around $5k more than doubled once they actually started taking the car apart and I think the price also was "enhanced" a bit when they found out the situation with insurance and how my insurance was going to give the greenlight on everything since they were simply billing the other insurance company. I'm glad the situation worked out the way it did, but I remember that month of driving a crappy rental car while my car was in pieces!!!

Do0d, you are the epitome of the friend who doesn't get back to you. I'm like what? You were in a wreck? That was so 2 years ago.

EDIT: waitaminute, Tucson? No wonder you were out of commission for a while. That's quite a move.
