Default Motor Mavens LS2 S14 240sx Build

Seemed like an appropriate section to post this build. Motor Mavens Webmaster Brandon Campbell dropped his car off for an LS2 swap and we got started on the car today. Motor is a six speed LS2 from a donor GTO. We will have to use a Camaro shifter assembly and shifter block due to poor placement/fitment of the original GTO setup.

Currently we are working on this swap and an LS3 350z, which can be seen on our Facebook/My350z, side by side while parts continue to flow for both. We try to manage our time between projects and the quick labor jobs.

Look for swift progress updates and lots of photos.

Painted the bay black and then dropped in the LS. Fits like a glove.

Love it!

What does labor on an LS generally run if the customer supplies the motor/tranny?

Using a prefabbed mount kit or doing it yourself?

Depending on the mileage/age of the motor you could be saving anywhere between $5k - $7k. We ballpark a basic swap at $10k - $12k just to see who is actually interested at that price. As with any business we get plenty of tire kickers.

We will be using the SIKKY mount kit. More pics soon. We've been super busy with multiple LS swaps!

Coming together real nice. About to get started on the underside here soon. Had to modify some of the rad hoses for the right fitment to the new Mishimoto setup, but they fit perfect now. As you can see the JE Pro Fab intake, a personal favorite of mine, new rad, fuel rails and braided lines.

Been super busy, but Brandon's car has come a long way. Finally have the motor all tied together with new cooling system, fans and intake installed.

Quick underbody shot of the headers

Solid diff bushings installed and new OS Giken LSD with fresh oil of course!

We also finished up a full custom exhaust with 4" oval exit that flows well with the current bumper

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!

In between the daily grind and numerous projects we have going on Brandon's car is almost finished. John was able to spend most of the last two days getting everything together. With the season starting up we obviously want to get this beast back to Brandon in time to shred some tires and enjoy the ride.

Custom made the front crash bar/bash bar, which fits perfectly with the Rocket Bunny front bumper. Fitting of the sides and rear will be done soon.

To pass tech for XDC we needed to add two down bars.

If you know Brandon he is a taller gentleman so we made the seat fit accordingly. Custom brackets & hammering of the floor pan was required. The passenger seat is sitting on a Buddy Club "Super-Low" rail so they say.

Momo wheel --> NRG quick release --> Momo hub

Interior all together.

How tall is he? Just curious as I'm 6'4" and when I sit in a Recaro Pole Position my shoulders are a good amount above the harness pass through holes, and that's without even having my HANS device on. I'd be worried about using a harness with that seat if he's over 6"

He is just about as tall as you I would say. With harnesses on and locked in he fits comfortably.

I was referring to the harness angle. I also fit very comfortably in a Pole Position but the shoulder harness pass through is too low. Unless he has really long legs/short torso by looking at your picture it would seem the harness would be at at least a 45* angle or worse with him seated properly. Just wanted to point that out as spinal compression would be very bad if he was in an accident. The shoulder harness angle with him strapped in should be anywhere from 0-20* (from seat back to harness bar), 20* being the very MAX.

I know what you meant, but my short answer was comfortably. We spent a few hours with him here one night verifying proper angle, seat height, harness setup & pedal distance.
