Default Yellow raised letter....

Because import Nascar!

I did the yellow raised letter mod yesterday that took all day. I am very pleased with the results.

I bought the oil base sharpie marker sold at Michaels. I do not know how long the yellow is going to last but it should last til my next car wash then I'll have to re-highlight it again, I'll keep yaw posted.

You'll notice, I painted the Michelin man and letters in the front but not the pilot sport b/c the letters engraving on the tire is too thin for the tip of my marker so left it alone. Wishing the letters were huge like Bridgestone

Comments and critiques welcome...

Not sure if anyone is following this but I will continue with updates.

Update:
I went ahead and color in some more on the Michelin to make it look proportional even though tires are mis-match.

I haven't driven my Z in a week. Friday night took her out and drove ~100 miles. After that cruise you can see crack build up on the Michelin tires. Saturday it rained and I purposely drove through the water trenches (car is clean btw) to see how it hold up... it held up well! Pix were taken on Sunday.

If you didn't notice, the Bridgestone letters are indented with ribbed lines whereas the Michelin are not indented and smooth. IIRC: I did 3 coats on the Michelin and 2 coats on the Bridgestone so this may or may not play a factor on why it's cracking.

Update Two:
Washing the tire with soap and water is safe, won't smear. Wipe it down with alcohol will take the paint off and cause smear mark.

Update Three:
If car isn't a daily driver, (for me) the paint lasted 7+ months without any need of touch up IMO. The last side picture is how it looks and letters are busted up and I'll need to re-highlight it again soon. If it's a daily driver, touch up is needed sooner... possibly ~1 month or so.[/SIZE][/B]

I'd like it better if the tires were all matching (not to mention it's really identifiable now). Still looks pretty cool though.

+1. Love the rears. Fronts just look like you started and gave up.

It was an even wear throughout the tire.

thats why i said check your toe settings and not your camber.

I had a ******* shop set my toe a .5 degree vs .1, i was running through rears in 5k miles.

How many pens to do your tires?

My toe settings were/are LR .07 and RR .05 which is in the green so I thought I was good.
EDIT: that means I gotta go back and get it re-aligned.

Get a couple pens, one is not enough.

People get flamed for painting the ugly *** non brembo calipers because they look like chit. Also, this "mod" can be taken away in 5 minutes. LOL.

I will either color in some more on the PS2 my next go around or delete it completely and leave it black... leaving just the rear highlighted.

Matching tires are a must if you're going to do this. The rears look good. With OEM Brembos (and other BBKs) it would look even better.

Yup the brake system will come... It's the money that can't come soon enough.

It looks awesome with the Bridgestones, but not so great on the Michelins.
You Z is f'ing awesome man.
All you need is a BBK to fill up those TE37s and it would probably be my favorite Z out there.

i personally like it--certainly a way to jazz up the uber played out black wheels on black car. i would have not done the "re-11" lettering though and just did "bridgestone" and "potenza" like racecar. the mismatched tires is not brilliant tbh.
