I'm hoping SmokyTyrz would go. I wanna see what kind of power he's making with all them Nismo **** on..
Unless you have LOTS and LOTS of breathing mods, you DON'T NEED a wideband. FI'd Z's need wideband so they can make sure they are in the correct range in terms of AFR (air to fuel ratio). So if 350Track and blackblwn Z WANTS to do wideband, they can pay the extra 25. If not, then they pay 75 like the rest of us.
I agree on them being a douche, though. No need to act like they're the shiznit. They charge the most, don't offer discounts, and they're ready to b1tch about coming in on a sunday.. I guess they can do that cuz they're JOTECH.. Maybe we could try Matchless (used to be Velocity)?
We need more input, girls!

Matchless (velocity) sounds fine with me... I just had some stuff installed there, and I'll vouche for the place being well run. I don't know if I would trust them for really major engine work, but I think dyno'ing there would be fine and relatively cheap.
Oh, and Z_freak, thanks for the props. I don't really want to discourage 3hree5ive0ero, because he is doing a lot of good leg work getting this together. Just wanted to make sure we all got a good deal on this!

Carrollton isn't that far from Rockwall. In fact I probably live farther away from these shops than most people. I live too far up north
Thanks. I'll give him a ring today when they open.

alright 75 is kinda steep for just going to F** around and get out of my house... but i'm still in... not that there's anything special about my stock Z but what the HAY, I'd be "more in" if we went to a place that is like 50 for three runs or something... but whatever...at least i won't be sitting here typing at my computer...
Chris, I don't mean to rain on your parade man, but JoTech sucks. All you are paying for is the name. $100 for wideband pulls is INSANE and a load of BS. I had my Z dynoed stock for $30 at Velocity WITH wideband. Jotech can lick my nuts, because I'm certainly not paying that much just for a few dyno runs.

Good. I think we decided against jotech anyway. I'm gonna try matchless. Hopefully, we can set something up with them some time soon.
P.S. - Happy Independence Day everyone.

Happy 4th to all also......keep us posted Chris on what each company says....looks like Travis(walkert) had a good experience @ machless so hopefully they will be willing to work with us.....
and +1 Desi, understand completely, these things can be tough to put together and Chris is doing a great job....

Just a notification. I actually found somebody that works at HPP Racing that is also a member on these boards. I'm communicating with him through PM. I'll let you know how that goes and I'll still call Matchless tomorrow.
I'd be down for this. Do we have a date yet?
And, since the price is a contention, shouldn't we look for a dynojet shop that recognizes we are doing a "dyno day" and may give us a break? I think that is what 3-5-0 is doing with the PM he has sent.
For instance, when LG Motorsports had a dyno day for the Chevy guys, there a BBQ, and a very "club meet" type atmosphere. Basically it was a regular hang-and-have fun meet with the added bonus of dyno runs.
I dunno about other folks but I'm real picky when it comes to who I let dyno my car. I'll show up at anything you guys set up cuz I'd love to dyno my car, just to see. I'm not expecting (nor do I need) big numbers of course. I just want to see what the package yields now that the motor is broken-in.
But I know nothing about any of the local shops. I trusted LG on my past cars cuz Lou did EVERYTHING, and he really knows his stuff. But if it's a shop run by a bunch of kids then no-way-Jose are they gonna strap my baby down!
Do we have a date picked yet? I kinda skimmed the thread so if I missed it I apologize. Don't forget to update the first post with the details once they are settled (or start a new thread, to avoid confusion).
Thanks for kicking this off Chris!! A dyno day would be fun stuff.
For those who haven't dyno'd before, or if you've added some tricks since your last dyno... Let's play a little game. Everyone post what they predict their numbers will be, and then afterwards we'll come back and post the actuals. JTuner does this for their "dyno day" articles, and it's always fun to see how close people can guess.
Given the heat and humidity, I'm predicting about 230 at the wheels, if I'm lucky.

I second that Smokey about if the shop not up to par then we will not dyno. I think we need to start a list of who is in so Chris does not have to search the post for names.
Please fill in your screen name Thanks

Alrite guys, I just got off the phone with HPP Racing and Matchless. Here's my take on both shops and what they told me:
HPP Racing
-(does a lot of domestics, some imports, has a few G/Zs being worked on)
I talked to Ozzie, a manager, and he seemed pretty knowledgeable about everything and was very helpful when answering questions. He is also a 350Z owner so that's always a plus. He will go FI very soon with his Z. So he's pretty knowledgeable and willing to help anybody with questions. BTW, he's also a member on these boards and I told him about the meet and this thread, so he might chime in.
What Ozzie said:
-July 22nd or 29th is the earliest date availalbe for a "dyno day"
-the shop opens at 10:30am
-there isn't a minimum number of cars we'd need, but at least 2 or 3 would be nice
-there isn't a maximum number of cars we can bring
-all their pulls are wideband but doesn't have to be
-Ozzie's willing to give us a $10 discount, so $40 for 3 pulls
-he would also need about 1.5 weeks of notice
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Matchless
-(does mostly imports, few domestics)
I talked to a sale rep, Brad, and he seemed like he was busy so all I got was just the basic important info we need. He also didn't seem to helpful nor knowledgeable.
What Brad said:
-July 22nd or 29th is open
-the shop opens at 10:00am
-there's no set minimum but he guessed that 6-8 cars sounded about right
-no more than 10 cars
-with at least 5 cars, there's a $10 discount ($35 for baseline, $55 for wideband)
If you guys see anything I'm missing as far as important info or would like to know more, you can contact me to ask the shops or you can contact them yourself. Their numbers are in the very first post in this thread.
Right now, after just talking to whoever was on the phone answering my questions, I am leaning toward HPP Racing. Tell me what you guys think.

I highly doubt you'll only get 230 whp.
