I updated the first post with basic NHRA rules, so read that if this is your first time at the drag strip or if you're unfamiliar with the rules.

I think I might bring my brother 03 Lightning and hope for mid 12s rather than bring my stock Z.

A seat belt is mandatory in all cars. A three inch driver restraint system meeting SFI Spec 16.1 is mandatory in all cars running 11.49 (7.35) or quicker, and in convertibles running 13.49 (8.25) or quicker and all dune buggy type vehicles.

A driveshaft loop is required on all cars running 13.99 (8.59) seconds and quicker, except vehicles running 13.00 and slower equipped with street tires.
These are actually all of the rules that apply. I got this off the racetracks site. I don't mean to correct you I just remembered needing a driveshaft safety loop for my mustang that ran a 12.5 so I thought you guys might need to know.

How would anybody drive there without a valid driver's license or nonfunctioning taillights? Since many people don't break into 13s on their first trip to the track, they're not gonna need a roll bar or a roll cage and probably not even a helmet, not to mention all the race gears. I know kwicker has a Z06 and Brian has nitrous, but I also know that they know the rules enough for me to not tell them exactly what they are. So, I only stated the more applicable rules for everybody, so they don't have to read through the clutter to try to adhere to the applicable rules.
BTW, bring your Z. It doesn't matter if it's stock or not. Drag racing, as with many other types of racing, is dependent on the driver. The time doesn't matter as much as the driver's skills or consistency. 12s mean nothing if the car was what got it there and not the driver. Bring the Z and work on getting one of the top times for the Z.

Both the Z and the Lightning (as all Lightnings) are automatic, and it doesn't take much skill to power brake. I miss driving a stick so much...
I will try to get my fiance to drive the Z. Its her daily driver and Ive just done a couple simple mods to it (mostly thanks to the good advice from these boards), but Ive helped built my brothers lightning since he blew the stock motor, now its got a built bottom end and thousands of dollars of mods (The whine almost makes me finish). Its never been run and Ive put countless hours into it. Ive just got to see what it can do. I've already met a couple of you guys from Arlington, and I can't wait to meet the rest of your guys. I hope I don't offend anyone by not bringing my Z but curiosity gets the best of me every time.
