Just wondering who is going from Texas to this year's ZCON?

Where and when is it again?

 

July 28th-August 1st www.zcon2010.com

Our travel plans out of Texas:
-Leave San Antonio Sunday July 25th and head to Dallas for Mad Mike Party

-Leave Dallas on Monday July 26th and head straight to Nashville

-Leave Nashville on Tuesday July 27th and head to the Tail of the Dragon. Stay in the Mountains Tuesday night.

-Leave the Tail on Wednesday after lunch and head back to Franklin for the ZCON opening reception.

FYI- There are 3 groups heading out of the Dallas area. On Monday we leave and do the drive in 1 shot. Mad Mike also leads a group out on Monday but they will be towing cars so they plan to arrive on Tuesday to Nashville. A third group plans to leave Tuesday and do a straight drive.

 

That's seriously @ the very minimum 2,200 miles & 36 hours of just driving... not to mention how many rock chips. I've mapped it out before because I want to go one of these years, but I'm going straight there & back. When I go, I'm gonna try the NASA diaper maneuver to save time.

It's gonna be a $#!¥ ton of driving... I would strongly consider it if we drove from Houston, straight there.

I'm no slouch. I drove with Dave to Kerrville, around the 3 sisters & back in 1 day & have driven from Tampa to Houston straight through twice in the last month... & this trip is gonna be a sonovabeach.

 

Houston to Nashville = 785 miles

 

Houston to the Tail of the dragon = less than 900 miles for me.

Hanging out in Nashville 3 months after the recent floods ... should be fun

When are you guys heading out?

 

I think we're leaving on the 27th - not sure about the time yet though. There's going to be 2 groups of people: a "fast" group that will just drive there with bathroom/food breaks and a "slow" group who will stay in a hotel over night before arriving in TN.

 

^Are you guys going to Mad Mike's ZCON party on the 25th?

 

From what I'm told it's undecided for now.

 

I will be there in my Daily though..no Z at the moment.
