EVENT 3 VQ AutoX Championship @ TMS April 16
That would be me
It was good meeting everyone yesterday, thanks for letting me steal a bit of shade..I kinda look like a lobster after being out there then spending all day at the drag strip today.
Had an absolute blast sliding all over the place on my all season Hankooks, too, guess it's time to start dumping money into it, lol.

But I would be pissed if he beat me in my car too. Lol
and then the other car in class 3 with me and Michael Eason in the Black Camaro didn't even show a car and I don't ever remember seeing any car #19 run all day??I'm just saying ... it's nice to be in third place and all, but not when the guy in first place should be in the S2k class and the guy in second place seemed to materialize out of thin air!
So let's see if I got everyone:
Best times of the day:
GWord256 - Z - 52.037
fithamoto - Z - 54.015
BeerViper - G - 55.608
silverc10 - Z - 56.210
ppat1989 - Z - 57.146
PhGit - G - 58.053
The weather was definitely epic, chilly in the morning and mid-70's in the afternoon. Awesome time as usual, great to have a group to hang with before, lunchtime, and after the event!

As always it was good seeing the z/g participation. Car 19 was Terry Fair in the vorshlag 5.0 mustang. He took over someone's registration and that's the confusion with that. Here are a few videos. First is of my fastest raw time, wish I would have bothered to clean it up instead of just trying to see how much liberty I can take with the new car.

I'm thinking the new second set won't be quite as cheap as those 215/40 Falkens were.........
Love the videos! That was a FAAAAAAAAST run! Wish my car would turn like that
Plus I hit a cone on that run, and then over drove my last runs, so it was not really that fast. I still need more seat time to make sure I can do runs like that on the first run every time.
If anyone is looking for more seat time besides me there is a Texas time trialsl event this coming weekend I would recommend as well.

Correct, you can sign up in a class higher than your class. An S2000 on street tires and without forced induction, if not in the S2000 class, would be in Class 2, so they can run it in Class 3, if they want.
Duston..or Dusty as I have on my reg for the s2k club, I go by each equally as of late. I'll be part of the way to wheels at least once somebody comes and gets the second set I had for my tC. Craigslist to the rescue.

Yeah....you got to ask around to see what the best tire for you will be. If your going to change class and get some r-comps or stay on streets.
I wanna stay on the streets...but will be close to slicks. Hankook RS3 or Toyo R888's.
The RS3s are great in the hot summer. They have a ton of grip. So far, mine are holding up well, too.
I love the Toyo R1R, but they wear fast.
If you are looking for a single tire for both daily driving and autocrossing, then it is hard to beat the Dunlop Star Spec.
I believe R888s have a treadwear less than 140, so most clubs do not consider them as street tires.

Yes the toyo's are under a 140 rating...I forgot.
I have read really good things about them tho. Most likely I will end up with the Hankook's. Seems to be the best of both world there....however I don't plan on using them for DD'ing.
I have heard really good things about the Dunlop start - spec's, but I heard they were expensive also.

Bridgestone RE11 - Cost Leg - Excellent Tire
Michelin PS2 - Cost First Born - Better than Excellent Tire (so I hear)
Nitto Invo - Cost Reasonable - Just ok
Kumho Ecsta XS - Cost Reasonable - Just ok
I've never ponied up the dollars to buy the PS2's They go for about 350$ each but everyone says they are orgasmic.
They all have over 140 wear.
What about Falken Azebis RT615/RT615K. I've heard good reviews on those but have never tried them and I believe they are reasonably priced. I think Robert (rfortier) uses them. I don't know if he's ever tracked with them though.

I still am leaning toward the R-S3's But I will have to see what is available & in my size at the time
