Whenever you have questions about tire sizes, visit this site:
http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

You enter the stock tire size then the tire sizes that you're looking at. Make sure the percentage difference is less than 3% from front to back. Also make sure that the overall diameter of the tire sizes you're choosing are within 3% of the stock size as to not throw off the speedometer. A lot of people get the lower profile tires for some reason, but that throws off a lot more than you'd think (speedo, odometer, alignment, etc).

I think the tire I'll go with is the BFG g-Force Sport. I know it's not super for autox but I'm a beginner and they are reasonable on the price. My options are:
245/40
255/35
265/35
275/35
275/40

I'm a total noob with tires. Any suggestions from these options for a F/R setup? Is 245 too small on a 9.5 wheel? I guess I'm leaning toward 255/35 and 275/35. Is 35 gonna look lame on stock suspension? This is all new to me. Thx!
Shawn, Jake can roll those fenders in a flash !

I don't know if the G's are much different on wheel sizes & offsets. I know that you could go with the 255/40's Frt & 275/40's with no problem tho.

Here are my new shoes ! I am awaiting my new lugs...then I will be putting them on for a test run.

Also throws off your traction control..... trust me lol. Of you run tires that are out of that 3% margin, when you go around turns like highway merging ramps, your traction control will activate and cut your power. It's annoying.

Awesome! Thanks so much guys! It looks like 255/40 F and 275/40 R is the perfect combo according to that calculator. Now I just need to find the right tires for that... maybe change my mind on those BFG g-Force since they don't have 255s.

Nice lookin wheels Chris!

Hankook rs3's seem to be the general consensus on great track tires that still keep you in a street tire class.

Well.... I just went under the back of the car to wipe off the exhaust and discovered my rear diff bushing is busted. Bushing juice was all over the place. Most likely happened at the last event. I have the SPL solid ones and had hoped to change it before that event but it hasn't happened yet.

Extremely unlikely I'd have this done before the 14th. Should I still do it? Maybe take it a little easy? I definitely don't want to break something else.

Thanks Chris. I think I wasn't real clear before. I have the SPL Pro Solid Rear Diff bushings... and all the whitelines for everything else just waiting to put on. Me and Jake were gonna do the work before that last event but his back got jacked up and he couldn't move so it was put on hold.

I don't have any free time this weekend so I think I'll just have to live with until we can get it scheduled... which would def be after the 14th.

I took the chance and I'm running outside the 3% range. 245/40F and 275/35R. I really would have liked a 35 up front but the 255's won't fit.

I may be pulling that ABS fuse.

My diff bushing probably went out around 60K (~4 years ago) and I just now got around to replacing it with a solid diff bushing at above 121K. You can leave it the way it is and even abuse it (it never stopped me from drag racing, racing in snow/sleet/ice, autox, etc). The longer you leave it, though, the harder it will become and more wheel hop you'll have, but it's ok to leave it as is for a while.

If your VDC hasn't thrown codes yet, then you're good. As long as you're not excessively spinning wheels, you should be fine with the VDC interruptions and codes. Keep in mind, though, that the tolerances are now smaller with your varying tire heights.

I am soo down for doing time trials and road racing type of courses. That track in Cresson looks so nice. I would def prefer to get out of 2nd gear.

I just realized I missed that time trial opportunity a couple of weeks ago because I wasn't paying attention to the event threads over here... just this one. I totally would have gone! I've learned my lesson! Must check events on my350z often!

TMS is doing a charity thing tomorrow (Saturday) where you can just show up between 10am-5pm and run your car around the track 3 times for $30. They say it's behind a pace car so I don't know how fast they'll let you get.

That sounds like fun ! I bet they will let you go as fast as you can keep up with them. I drove a Nascar there and there was always a driver in front of you....He will pace your speed and if you start to push on him he will go faster for you to keep up.

Shawn, too bad you missed the Time trials in Mineral Wells last weekend....they were a blast and very fast also. Top speeds of 80-100 on the back stretch. Well at least the Red Vette hit 100. I only got it to 80-85 before you were on the brakes hard !

Let me know if your gonna do the charity...I might meet you up there ??

How do you know if you've blown a diff bushing? As you can all imangine I've been pretty hard on mine.

Oh and I'm starting to doubt I'll get my tires in time.

Idk on the g but on the z it's a black bushing that kinda looks like a donut in the rear subframe. It's filled with black fluid and you can tell if it's blown by looking at the subframe. If you see what looks to be dried up leakage coming from the bushing running down the subframe then it's blown.
