I now have a beeter!
Man...
Its really great. I now have a little 86 Toyota Beater Truck!
Its soooo nice to not have to daily drive my Z anymore. As you all know my Z is heavily mod'ed so its great to be able to give her a rest, and know that she is safe and pretty sitting in my garage
Who else has a beeter?

I dont personally, heck the Z isn't technically mine yet either. My parents have 6 cars i think between the 4 of us. I usually drive an F250 turbo diesel. It is nice to have something else to drive.

Got a 92 Prelude back in Oct. with 142,000 miles on it. It's a little banged up but it runs like a champ and just passed VA emissions with flying colors.
I love not having to put all the miles and daily wear and tear on the Z. She's resting comfortably in the garage waiting for a nice sunny day.

95 Toyota Corolla with 120k baby! I got the car a year after I got the Z. The first year's mileage on the Z = 20,000. The second year's mileage on the Z = 4,000 and counting until April.
You gotta love having a beater, especially when the snow comes (if it ever will this winter...).

'97 Ford Probe 4-cyl. It's a great winter car...No power, skinny tires, FWD. 96,000 miles and runs like a champ. Thanks to the Probe, I've only put 4,600 miles on the Z in the 11 months that I've owned it. The family car is a fully loaded Lincoln Navigator for haulin the kid and groceries and stuff.

Man.. cool stuff.. I drove the Z for a little bit last night... wash her, then park her back in the garage... .. I got lucky and no rain.
Felt great to get in the truck this morning, knowing the Z is sitting all cleaned up, waiting for a sunny day.
I'll try and post some pics of the beater tonight

All I have to say is that having a cheap beater is nice and economical, but I really missed having a fun daily driver. Plus, I averaged out how much I spent on the beater along with maintenance costs (mainly to get it past inspection), and the per month cost is still more than the WRX I picked up. Then again, I got a killer deal on the Subaru... Something to think about...
Oh, and if anybody wants a free Honda to fix up as a beater car in the area, let me know. The car runs fine, but is missing headlight because of the deer. Has a lot of miles, but pass VA emissions in May, burns some oil, but still gets 31+mpg city.
Edit: I forgot to say that having a beater has low insurance costs... that was not factored into my per month equation I cited above...
