Default When to buy rims

Hey guys,

I have been saving up for rims as they WILL be my next 'upgrade' so to speak. Just wanted to get some advice from you guys in our region. The weather around here is unpredictable, but spring is right around the corner (March 20th) and I also wanted to have some rims for the March 26th Evolution meet. Since I have been saving the mod bug has been bugging me like a fly at a barbeque to JUST BUY THE RIMS!! My only problem is I want to wait JUST long enough to avoid any more '$hitty' weather. I basically want to put them on and not have to remove them until next winter!! When do you think is a good time to buy?? I am starting to get impatient and want to just pull the trigger....but I also dont want to pay for a mod I cant enjoy b/c of weather and have to keep swapping from 18s to 19s every other day!! I had set myself to order my rims on or around March 16-18th, and give them at least 7-10 days shipping so I could receive them before the 26th!! I WANT my RIMS SOOO BAD, what you guys think??!!

I don't think Bob Ryan or Sue Palka post here, so I don't know if anyone can really answer your question for you. Why don't you just order the best deal you can get, receive it when it is delivered, and mount it if it's a nice day?

vlm7,

haha, i didnt want today's forecast or the forecast for the week....but you know what?? i think i just needed someone else to say 'get em'!! damn you!! you just gave me the reassurance to spend $2500, so if for some reason I lose my job im going to hunt you down and I'll have to pee on your hood

On a serious note, i wasnt sure when the weather around here was more stable as in 'snow related' stable and just wanted a second opinion!

Damn you guys!!!! One more time....THERE"S NO FREAKIN' PEENIE WATCHING GOING ON!!!!! LOL

Seriously, regarding the rims, you need to make sure that you can get them shipped and mounted before the meet. I know certain rims are special order and can take upto 90 days to order, so you'd better get on the ball if you wanna be rollin' on new shoes come Evolution time!

I just bought a set of Volks, I was going to wait until spring but Jeff@Evolution had them in stock and I didn't want to be s**t out of luck by the spring. I got lucky with these, they are kind of rare and everybody else I talked to had to order them from Japan.

Check them out:

Thery are extremely light for the size and are supposed to be very strong, I picked up the box and was like damn. I work for a Jaguar dealer part time and some of the Jag models use BBS rims and man those rims are extremely heavy and very expensive.

Why don't you just order everything right now and have them shipped to my place? I'll hold on to them until you are ready .

P.S. Don't visit the Private Classifieds section for the next couple of weeks .

I know vlm7 is going to kill me!! I originally wanted either gunmetal GTC's or SF challenges. But everywhere I looked and I mean I tried at least 10 diff. places the prices were $3100 for GTC's and $3200-3400 for challenges. So I am assuming you cant get either for sub 3k. My budget kept me at ~$2500 and although thats just $500 less...I wont buy rims for 3k, but if im below 3, i feel better about the purchase so I can do it! I tried local places along w/ one Jester7500 recommended up North.

Anyways, this is what I am going with...

let me know what you think. i wanted a gunmetal w/ polished lip style rim. These are made by rays, 2 piece and are forged. This along w/ the awesome price is what caused me to jump on it...Im just waiting call back from Chris@DTD...

I have a feeling now that you all convinced me to order something bad is gonna happen.

You're right - now you're gonna have to install a camera in your car too! Can't have another Wolf rollin' through NoVA. Did you see the new G-Games that DTD will be offering? Get those instead!
