My lawyer actually had said something like that's where they stick the cops as a sort of punishment. Well, now I believe it.
Aside from the fact that I'm going to court in 9 hours due to a police officer writing me a false reckless ticket on the Dulles Access Road(no joke, but another story) ...
Remember when security around the airport was so incredibly tight? When men in uniforms carried rifles to protect the security of our nation? Well I was with my little brother today in his STi, going to pick up two friends from Dulles. We we were just driving along slowly, 15 mph, to the end of the arrival terminals to get my friends from United. At about door 5, a cop suddenly pulled in behind us, and by door 6 (ah one more door to go!) we were pulled over for "Improper Exhaust"!!!!!
Okay, so I might expect that anywhere else in the state of Virginia-It is a pretty large exhaust and it's surprising he's never been pulled over for it before. But at the airport??!? Don't they supposedly have really major things to worry about? Not only did he write such a retarded ticket, he held up 6 airport shuttlebuses and when he was confronted by some of the shuttle drivers, he just shook his head at them to tell him he wouldn't move.
Honestly, where are the priorities?

I have seen many people with large exhaust tips get pulled over at Dulles. As a matter of fact my friend and I were in his Civic and he had an incredibly large "japanese guy yelling out of a megaphone" and we got pulled over in Dulles. I bet it is the same rookie cop that pulled us over. This was not too long ago, about 3 months.
I pretty much laughed because the cop profiled the vehicle. Lowered, tinted windows, loud exhuast....it must be one of those damn import racers again.

Metropolitan Airport Authority...they have no clue.
They gave me a reckless a few years ago, and it shouldn't of been that. They patrol Rt 28 around the airport all the time, their favorite place is near the overpass to the Air & Space museum. They also have jursidiction on most of the Toll Rd too I think.

ben: it was metropolitan police
mike: yep, the kind that can barely finish high school and get laughed at by other cops.
I just got back from a ticket actually. 81 in a 55, reckless, dulles access road. Verdict: improper driving $350(z).00 fine. ugh. 6.5 hours gone...I have to go to work now and stay super extra late!!

I saw the subject line and thought...this has to be someone here in Southern Kaleefornia!!!! Airport cops here have nothing better to do than give citations for no front license plates
I see them cruising through the long term parking lot looking for no front plates, expired registrations, and whatever else they can make money on..
Don't they have some terrorists to look out for or some racial profiling to do
??? So it's not just you guys on the East Coast.

Maybe they were concerned that your exhaust would drown out THE INCREDIBLY LOUD JET ENGINES pulling the 20-ton planes up into the sky. What a bunch of a-holes.
Hey, I personally feel much safer knowing that our airports are protected from guys with big exhaust pipes. You never know when one of you ricers is going to use that exhaust to hijack a plane!
