Default parking tickets in DC (?)

hey,

anybody know much (or where I can find info) on parking tickets for DC? this punka$$ meter maid keeps ticketing me for not having a front tag. Granted, I should b/c I have VA plates. But is DC allowed to ticket for something like that? And would having the tag placed on the dash work?

And where the hell can I get some ties to strap it to my grill

Yep, I think it's bogus that they are trying to enforce VA state laws in the district. It's even more bogus if they have some law that says "all cars using district streets must display a front tag, regardless of state of registration." The thing that sucks is that trying to find someone who isn't just "making **** up" so you'll go away is going to be difficult. Gotta love the district.

ahh so that's why the D.C. cop asked me why my front plate wasn't on. I was pulled over on Wisconsin a while back for speeding...apparently 30 in a 25 was too fast. No ticket though...I think he was bored.

Not sure of the details, but they've been doing it for years. Their system has so much red tape that it's not worth fighting. And to answer your second question, no, front plate on the dash does not exonerate you either.

They got me one time in Georgetown for expired stickers and no front plate.....$100. I was like "screw them", I'm selling the car anyways and this is BS since I'm a VA resident.

1 year later got a letter threatening to send me collections, and the fines had doubled to $200. And is worth your time to drive downtown and fight it, probably not.
