Didn't I see this elsewhere?

It's not really that hard bud...

WD-40, Pliers, Pull harder, the end...

Silkk, I'm not some dumb kid and snide replies aren't necessary. I've had this on for over a year and it's a little harder to pull them out than you might think.

Silencers came with it. I had had them out for a while, but put them in because of getting pulled over.

ok...
so...
what i did was make my own tool...
pretty much get like 1/2 inch thick round steel
heat it up and make a hook and use that with a slide hammer to pull out the silencers.
believe me i've had some stubborn ones before...

Great idea. I'm going to have one of my fabrication guys at work make me one tomorrow...it's great to be the boss.

I've had stubborn silencers in my Tanabe as well, but nothing WD-40 and Pliers can't solve...

Plus its such a common sense question it probably shouldn't even be asked... let alone on more than one forum.

I mean really, what other option do you have?

Well, here are some ideas I came up with:
1) Push them until they come out the oil fill in the engine?
2) Let them sit in there and maybe they'll roll out when ready?
3) Unbolt them and rev the engine and shoot them like a pee out of a straw? 4) Shoot some KY Warming on them and turn on some Jenna Jamison in the background and they'll just pop right out like an erect *****?

How's that for snide?

It's obvious that some people have constructive ideas and some can only be ignorant.

Thanks for the help.

No problemo. Did you get them out?

I'm done being an anus now. I'm sure the RSR sounds much better with them out. I know the Tanabe does (and they are similarly designed), but its almost unbearable without them.

Any sound clips?

nope didn't get them out. I had my fabrication guy at try to pry them out with pliers for about 15 mins (I've tried many times), but he couldn't get them out. He even took vice grips and used a hammer to try to turn them in place and loosen them up, but they're stuck pretty good. We're going to try and use the suggestion of a 1/2 steel rod with hook on the end with a slide hammer. Hopefully that'll work.

Holy hell, what did you do to them bro? I've never seen any silencers THAT stuck...

Ah well good luck.

Mine will probably be the same once I go to remove them this spring. I drove the Z in the showers a few times this winter and they are looking a little rusted... not cool.

i tried to get them out of my friends gt2 on his miata...
and that was the whole reason i decided to go with the slide hammer method...
took me maybe 1 minute or less to get them out..

got em out! I used the slide hammer method and it took about 15 minutes after I made the part. Thanks for the idea anotheraznguy. I honestly don't know how they got that stuck because they weren't rusted at all. My best guess is that the car is always outside, so from all the heating and cooling the silencers might have gotten slightly warped. Anyway it's loud as all hell. Just waiting on that ticket.
