Default What wheels should I get?

Hey,
I am looking to get some wheels for my Z but my funds are limited. I don't think I would every be able to afford some Volk's, Racing Hart, PIAA etc. I am looking for a gloss black wheel with a polished lip, I have a Le Mans Sunset 350z Touring. Does anyone have any idea's? I have around $1500 to spend and would like to get new some wheels and tires with that which means it will have to be a lower end wheel.

Here are the two that I had in mind

1. http://www.enkei.com/Performance%20specs/RZ-5.html

This setup would be a staggered 18x8 +24 offset front and 18x9.5 +25 offset rear.

2. http://www.motegiracing.com/applicat...2003%2DPresent

This setup would be used with the stock tires because both wheels would be 18x8 +35 offset for front and rear.

Please give me some insight. I don't want to downplay my Z but I don't want it to look stock.

Thanks

PS: How do I post pictures for a thread?

Between the two, I'd go with the Enkei. But it's my recomendation you save up a bit more and get some more wheel options. Remember the wider the better....

id have to go w/ the motegi, but id be happier w/ a wider wheel 8 is the stock size so i would shot for something that will give you atleast 9/9.5 in the rear

I doubt anyone who buy 2 piece Volks buys it for performance. I would buy only one piece forged lightweight Volks. Otherwise I dont see why I have to spend money just for the label Volk, I could go with cheaper alternative. I think its a fad to buy them these days.

I live downtown and wanted a similiarly priced alternative to the more expensive ones....pretty happy with my setup, but I did get them used ($1300) -- 19.8.5 (245/35), 19x10.5 (275/35) +22 all around, Luff M1s. But I like either one of the two you mention

For photos of LeMans Sunset with different wheels check the LeMans Sunset gallery.

$1,500 for wheels and tires is $375 per wheel and tire. If you spend $200 for a tire, that leaves only $175 for a wheel. I dont know where you can get a wheel for $175. Maybe Sears?

I spent 1500 on wheels and tires and got the 19" FORGED Rays Engineered wheels off the G35 (used of course). Not much wider than stock at 19x8, 19x8.5, but I spaced them out for another $200 and it looks great. Plus the G wheels are, as mentioned 1 piece forged, and weigh only 19 lbs.

Out of the wheels you posted, I don't know if I'd waste 1500 on either. There are much better alternatives if you have patience and look around. The 350Z Track wheels are another great option. For $200 powdercoat them gunmetal for a different look... Just an idea.

Here are the G wheels. One of the best values for the money unless you plan to track the car a lot and need 19x10s or something...

I just can't justify spending that much money on wheels if I am not using them for there actual use, racing, such as the Volks. I am just going for the look so I can have something different than stock.

Thanks, Rich, nice meeting you too.

Hey, suprpwr what was you name again I forgot it sorry, met you at the AAM meet. I love those wheels you have they would look awesome on a LS.

Thank you everyone for your input.

Anybody else have some ideas for as LS?

you might want to check out Ruff racing 279's. Do a search on them, cause there is an LS owner on here with them in hyperblack. You can get them in 19's (8.5/9.5) with a 20mm offset and with tires for around 1800. A little more than you're looking to spend, but they look good for the price IMO.

I really like the Luff M1s myself. Also, I wouldn't spend the money on a stock sized wheel. Save some more dough and get 19's. You'll kick yourself later if you don't.

I just hate being stock. I like the Luff M1 also but I would like to see the Ruff Racing 279 in black too if anyone has any pics, I did a search for it in the Brakes, Suspension, Wheels forum, no luck. Yeah it's probably better to go 19's.

Do it once and do it right the first time... u're going to regret not saving up money to get higher end rims because potholes + lower end rims = crack. And if you ever do get higher end rims. DO NOT get VOLKS! Nothing against them, but it seems to me that Volks are a universal standard for all Z's... everyone and their moms has Volks and it's getting a little played out IMHO. I'd say spend at least 2k for a good set of rims. From a mediocre company, go for Axis rims, their build quality is fairly nice and for the price? You simply can't beat it! $1200 shipped to your door w/o tires, there's a guy on ebay that sells them for dirt cheap

18's aren't bad if your a speed junkie. Smaller and ligher the wheel, the faster you get down the track. Just my opinion. Still, your ride, make it reflect that, dont go with the "standard" just because its trendy or popular.

I got the Axis Hiros on eBay from the guy abui01 mentioned above, Wilber Jia. They're staggered, 8.5 up front and 9.5 rear, 19 inch. Put Toyo T1R's on and I LOVE 'em. Can't beat the deal for $1200, no tax, free shipping. Search Axis Hiros on eBay and you'll find Wilber. Plus, he's a stand-up businessman. One of my wheels came banged up by FedEx and Wilber replaced it for free and told me to keep the damaged one in case I wanted to try to get it fixed for a spare. This wheel & tire combo looks fantastic on my sb 05 Enthusiast, and the offset is perfect. They just rock.
