Question AAM Spec ECU Flash

Anyone had it done. What are your thoughts. Thinking about having
it done this week when I go in to get my race pipes swapped out for
HF cats.

Thanks.

I know of a few people who had their ecu's reflashed with decent success myself included. I would recommend it if you dont plan on changing your set-up much, but if you do, or are going FI later, Id just save a little more and do a UTEC. Mike @ AAM does great with UTEC's or any piggyback of your choice.

If all you have is the HF cats then don't do it...The gains do not justify the cost. I had it done and would never do it again...at the time, I had RT cats, Injen SES, Kinetix V4 and something else...Can't remember??? Sorry, I stripped all the performance parts off the car a while back and sold everything. Anyways, back on topic, I just don't think the flash is worth it w/NA...Just my .02

^^ You had a bad experience I gained 9whp 12ft/lbs so obviously it varies. Only way to be sure of gains is a tuned piggyback...

I would say go with a tuned piggyback but I really like my reflash (haven't had time to dyno yet) but the 7100 RPM limiter is nice and next time I go on a long drive I know I can go over 155 w/o messing up the car.

yeh, I've been considering it as well (have a Pop, Stillen exhaust, and V4 (soon))....and like you, unsure of whether it's worth it.....at $600....

Generally members look at the ECU flash to add hp and torque, but that would not be my primary concern. I would be more concerned about my air:fuel ratio. Is it dangeroiusley high near redline? If so will a flash fix it?

any idea to tell if your AF is off without a gauge or something? I've noticed that since installing my exhaust and whatnot, my idle is a bit shaking when stopping and I could swear I'm burning more fuel now

Call Mike or Noah to clarify but I think that the reflash would help you since it remaps the fuel curve or something along those lines.

Spend another 250 and get a UTEC.. That way if you change anything down the line you can retune it.

Spend a few dollars to dyno your car. A dyno with A/F will answer all your questions and give you a baseline before you tune.

the piggyback requires you to buy a UTEC or something, right? and then the piggyback cost AAM has on their site is just their time to tune the system, yes?

or does their cost not require any extra hardware?

hey guys thanks for all of your responses. i have been tied up here with so much other stuff and haven't been able to post back.

hey momo 350z i haven't forgotten about you bro. i'm getting ready to call AAM now and see if the cats are in. hopefully i can get them done tomorrow if they are.

yeah my main concern is my a/f ratio at this point. i'm looking at making sure it stays on target. i spoke with Kelly and Mike and they mentioned I could be running lean after all the intake and exhaust mods. of course the other points on the reflash are also enticing too. but yeah seems like the better investment would be to go with a piggy back. i definitely have more mods down the line so it seems like that would be the better choice in the long run.

but yeah, thanks for all the responses guys i appreciate it.
