Default Premium Gas Shortage in VB

I knew there were some supply issues with gas due to the ethanol upgrades, but I didn't think it was that bad. I needed to fill up on my way home yesterday and decided I would just do it on my way to work this AM. Big mistake. I drove to 6 or 7 gas stations and none of them had premium or even mid-grade. My low fuel light was on and I was starting to consider putting in a couple gallons of regular to help me get by when I found a BP that miraculously had premium gas. Whew. It made me late for work too. Just wanted to give people a heads up that they may have to look around for premium today. Oceana (on base) didn't have premium either. It also cost $54.75 to fill up, ugh.

I filled up this AM at SUNCO the total price of $48.00 even and I was *****ing. After reading your post, I will halt my complaining and buy myself a WAWA hogie with my extra 6 bucks.

I was thinking of going for a drive on Sunday too since it'll be sunny out. I don't know now. I'll see if the gas availability gets better. I was thinking of going through Colonial Parkway again or just down 64 to Richmond.

I live in Vb and work in Norfolk. I was only looking in VB. The place I found premium was the BP at Laskin and 1st Colonial. He said they had made the switch to the new fuel. I haven't noticed a difference. I'm sure the issue will abate, but I don't know how long it will take. I'm just concerned if it becomes worse prices will go up even more like New Orleans style.

I've been practicing conservative driving: keeping the RPM below 4,000. That lasts about 20 minutes before I get bored to tears and hit the gas!
