Yes Mike at AAM give me a motor back in January. We then used that as the base for the build over the last 5 months. Currently that block is sitting at AAM with all my goodies installed (with the whole block cryo’d and important parts treated). They have finished the cooling modifications and we are just waiting for my car to get transported from LA so we can drop the old motor (which will then belong to AAM) and put in that new one.

Alright, I thought I would update this thread with the initial findings from AAM on what happened to my motor.

1st: The exhaust leak was not the head gasket, but in fact one of my wastgates coming lose.
2nd: Most importantly NEVER, and I MEAN NEVER, run under boost on less then 90 octane. Matter of fact, I might carry some 104 race fuel in my car just incase I wind up in BF somewhere.

Apparently I had a massive amount of heavy detonation running on that 87 octane.. SO much in fact, the HKS KnockAmp could not do anything about it. All of the ringlands are destroyed, some of them soo bad they are completely missing… There are metallic bits/dust everywhere inside the engine and extensive scoring of the block to the extent they believe it is junk. The entire intercooler system is coated in oil and will need a complete degreasing.

Basically the engine was totally screwed… Remind me to not let anyone else drive my car again… and NEVER use anything less then 92 Octane.

Anyway, the new engine is getting the finishing touches and they are completely rewiring my engine bay to move all lines/hoses/wires to the bay walls wherever possible. Hopefully this will only be a couple weeks project and my Baby will be back on the road before the end of the month.
