Angry Fellow Virginians, how much personal property tax will we pay for our Zs?

I was looking at the calendar today and couldn't help but notice that October 5 is inching slowly closer. Seeing as how this is the first year of ownership for my 03 Touring, I'm wondering how much personal property tax I should expect to pay (when Oct. rolls around, that when I'm going to wish I was still driving my old 00 Civic, that "only" cost me $170).

On a side note, that personal property tax for autos we have here in VA has to be one of the most ridiculous taxes ever. Sure, it's not as bad as before with the cut but it was supposed to be phased out in 07 or 08 but lo and behold, the government needs more revenue and the phase out has been frozen (huge surprise).

That sucks man... luckily for me military is exempt from that (unless you're a resident of VA, join military, get stationed in VA and buy a car here). Yeah, personal property tax is pretty rediculous... as if they didn't tax you enough when you bought the car.

Yeah I'm curious to know what you guys pay/have paid for the tax in Fairfax County? They say it's based on the NADA average trade-in value (which online is a lot higher than KBB)...but they said it's based on the print January edition, which I don't have (they said you can find it in the library).

Anybody wanna check the values of a 04 350Z Enth and 04 G35 Coupe?

This is the sole reason I don't officially "move" to VA...still have NJ tags.

On the good side, FFX County has repealed the decal requirement effective July 1, 2006.

While that's good, it's only like $20/year isn't it?

$25, but more importantly, we recover some valuable windshield real estate...

That sounds like insurance, the question is about property tax (license plate tags renewal).

Property tax isn't tags renewal, it does need to be paid up to renew though. Some counties do break it into 2, 6 month payments, so $300 every 6 is probably right, means $600 a year to counties that take it in a lump sum.
