Default new Exhaust brings all kinds of fun...

After lots of consideration I went with a SFR Dual HKS Carbon Ti exhaust.

The fit and finish was pretty good with the welds being exceptional.

Alberto and I put it on the day it arrived...

after a couple of hours the install was complete. I had a couple of issues on the install one being that the passenger side center section was an inch too long but after a minute with the saws-all and a file it was perfect. The other issue was the brackets that hold the HKS cans have pretty cheap mounting bolts which broke when I was adjusting them. Tim as SFR is sending me a new bracket and I made the old one work with new bolts (had to grind off the captured nut which was the real problem).

I did take the time to weigh the exhaust which came to 46 pounds, a 21 pound savings over my stock exhaust that came up to 67 pounds.

Now as far as the sound goes... It is very deep and loud (I am an autoxer and plan on taking it to the track so performance was more important than the exhaust being loud especially the lighter than stock part). I may need to do some work on the loud part if it becomes too much for me on the hour long commute to work (the wife is not fond of it but she is very sensitive to loud noise).

I will be putting up some sound clips as soon as I have time to get them made.

Additionally if you have ever looked at the SFR on the website it looks like it hangs down pretty low. IRL it does not hang down very low and I have had no clearance issues with the exhaust going over speed bumps or anywhere else so far...

All and all I am happy and the car does feel like it has some performance gains when driving it, my butt dyno likes what it feels...

On to all kinds of fun...

Now the next day rolls around and on my way to work I have this EVO with tuner stickers and all that jass try and get me to race. Then on the way home I have another EVO that is done nicely try and get me to race and when he pulled off I got the big thumbs up...

So this monday I am stuck behind a semi on 100 and there is a bike behind me. So when the semi clears this car I drop it into 3rd with a nice blip of the throttle and around the semi I go. Next think I know the bike has passed me and then in another 500 yards it slows down to 45mph in the fast lane in front of me... Then he proceeds to pop a wheelie and ride it for 500 yards or so, then he slows down and repeats the whole thing...

Kinda weird that all this happens in the first week of the new exhaust. Never had even a nibble when I had the stock exhaust...

Oh yea, Integrity I am going to give you a run for loudest exhaust in MidA...

With test-pipes this SFR would be louder than Charles' Top Speed, but with the cats in place its bearable. I love the sound of this thing above 4000rpm...

Looks hot man! Just curious if your into autox and such, why you with with a dual over a single for even more weight reduction. Something full Ti also? It looks like its still 2.5" all the way back to the cans, but the piping looks awesome. Lose anything down low with it? Or does it still have enough back pressure?

Anyway, cant wait to hear it, and I LOVE the look! A+!

EDIT* Im retarded and just saw it is all Ti. NM! Still, why not a single? =)

Yes, for weight savings a full Ti single would have been the max. But I like the look of the dual exhaust... and there was no way I was spending the coin for a dual exhaust Ti setup..

Back pressure? what Back pressure... Just what the cats provide. It is 2.5 all the way to the cans.

Well I know mine took a dive with the test pipes and 3" piping. A little to much for an N/A engine I think. Like the look though, can wait to see it next time I come up to hang with you guys!

BTW what did it run you? PM me the price if you dont want it in public.

Ouch, that price seems kind of hefty. Not bad though, considering the HKS cans. I love mine, so if 1 is good, im sure 2 is better!

Oh I had a hitch or two, but nothing a saws-all and a grinder couldn't cure...

It is amazing all the attention that exhaust is bringing in... now I just have to behave a bit more in front of the cops. Right Alberto... (he was in the lightning when I started peeling out and the cop was across the intersection)...

well here is a shot of the car from the ground behind the car so you can get an idea of ground clearance.

Sorry the shot is so dark. I did not bring a fill flash with me...

I am loving the look of the exhaust. The sound is tight even if it is a little loud...

That last shot is nice. The canisters sit perfect on this particular SFR unit, Ive seen em hang pretty low in the past. I like it more the more I stare at it lol.
