Siamese...my car was supposed to get the targa but yea the shop that was supposed to do it did not come through. Then they told Pumped they wanted like $1000 to do a custom hood using the stock hood as a base. Congrats Brent. We gotta get together once my car gets out of the shop.

Default Just got back to DC

Just got back to the US, and heading to Orlando this weekend.
Hope to pick the car up in a couple of weeks and will get vids then.
Definitely looking forward to hooking up with everyone when I get the car back.

Yep they are pricey... But as I am sure you know, do it once RIGHT or do it three times on the way to doing it right...

I would have done Motons for the Z instead of Konis... But I wanted to see if the car would be competitive in BS autoX before I plunked down that kind of coin on a set of shocks.

Oh and deals can be had and as you are a "Show" car guy I am sure that there could be a sponsorship discount in there for you...

I know what you mean about doing it right the first time. But at this point a lot of this recent engine work was completely unexpected, finances are a little tight. I am willing to wait, but it sounds like I need better coilovers to keep the car stable with the new HP levels.

As for sponsorships... I have never gotten an offer before. Doubt it will happen now. But who knows. I would happily support and show for Forged Performance for next season.

I would think that sponsorship is something that you have to go out and get yourself...

I know my friend Lee who has gotten Bimmerhaus support in the past just asked them how big the graphics had to be...

I think the US Distributor for Moton is less than an hour from Sharif's Shop

Unhappy Bad, Bad News..... :(

Well, Sharif called... Looks like the headgasket fix did not hold.
The engine is starting to overheat even while idling. The guess is the crooked headstuds are just too out of whack and this is causing the headgasket to pinch/pull when heat cycling...

They are going to pull the engine again and do a quick check, then ship it to GTM and have them do their thing to either fix it or replace the block. Looks like any plans with the car are cancelled for the rest of the year now.

Peace.

Couldn't you just machine new straight holes to accommodate 1/2" headstuds? Much cheaper than a new block.

Well, just thought I would put a quick update before the end of the year.

As I think everyone is aware the gasket blew again shortly after Sharif started the more aggressive maps. We had the entire engine (long block and everything) crated up and shipped to GTM for a complete teardown analysis.

The engine was reviewed by Sam at GTM and the headstuds were installed incorrectly (at least 1 was more then 1/16 inch off) and one of the pistons was either assembled or installed incorrectly..? The result was that a ring was pushed out and folded back on the piston tearing up the cylinder wall.

The end result is the engine needs to be replaced and very little is salvageable (the block, sleeves and pistons all need to be replaced…) I am hoping the JWT C2 camshafts and Ferrea valvetrain are OK, so I can sell/give these to someone who needs a turbo cam/valve setup. But again, we will not know until Sam looks at the heads.

I am going to have a new block built shortly. I should be getting a complete longblock, including all accessories, timing components and applicable upgrades for my whp goals. It is going to take a while to build the engine again, but meanwhile I can save up the funds to pay for everything (I hope .

I hope everyone has a good holiday.
May 2007 bring you and your families Good Health and Great Happiness.

you're payin too much to be going through all this crap (maybe it's bad luck?), sorry to hear that you will now need a new block... again. Seems like it's jumping from one shop to the next shop, this is insane.
