Default test pipes in NoVa

Hey,.. i just bought helix test pipes to compliment my invidia n1 exhaust.
Ive had my invidia exhaust on for the past 5 months and i have never had trouble with getting pulled over.

my question is to anyone with test pipes... how much trouble have you had with the cops in Northern va due to them??

I've had mine on for bout a month now. Unfortunetly I still have the stock exhaust so my car's only slightly louder than stock at full throttle, and hardly noticeable if i'm driving normally. Only thing you might have to worry about is if a cop knows what a catless car smells like. I've had multiple cops behind me and haven't been pulled over yet(knock on wood).

Remember you still have to pass emissions even if you don't get pulled.

I'm not liking the idea of putting test pipes on my car because of the change in back pressure.

But that goes for pipes as well, although I'm leaning towards Nismo cat-backs anyway.

I had them for about 3 years in NoVA - never had a problem with the police, but then again, my car wasn't much of a street car.

well i put the test pipes on and my car is loud as all get out. to avoid tickets i learned to throw it in neutral everytime im passing a cop.. and if i have a piggy behind me i turn off my music and accelerate quietly to the best of my abillity.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I didn't want to make a new one. Who has gotten a ticket for test pipes? How much is the fine? Is it one of those tickets where you can throw your cat's back on, take a picture, go pass an emissions test and get the fine dropped.

I live in FFX county and have never been hassled by cops in my area. I was always scared of Loudon cops. I have been pulled over 11+ times in ffx county (great falls area) and have only ever gotten 1 ticket the very first time I got pulled over (knock on wood). The police have been nothing but nice to me here, except for a few wanna be hardass ****** cops I had to deal with but that had nothing to do with vehicles and driving. But that is only 2 officers out of like the 15+ I've dealt with that have been *******s.

Well technically you can't get a ticket for test pipes since the cops can't really see them. You could just deny to death and say something like you have a crack on your exhaust. He/she is not gonna crawl underneath your car to check right?

There is no way for a cop to check for them unless he lifts up your car high enough to stick his head under. I went to a service station for my emissions and all they do is ask me, "do you have cats?" I said, "Nope! But can you do something about that?" and he goes, "I don't really care because I can't check for them on these cars anyways, they're too tucked in. I'd have to put this on a lift to really check so I just simply ask, but thanks for being honest."

No Cat Ticket = 10k

It's just like a tint ticket. If a cop pulls you over for tint, and doesn't check it (correctly, not just by his eye judgement) the ticket won't stand

I used to live in Annandale, VA. There is a gas station in Manassas that I went to pass emissions. It was next to Eastern motors. I forgot the name of he road. I avoid FFX police at all costs
