Default Any Saab lovers out there????? DD 4 Sale.

************SOLD************

EDIT: $500 FIRM! Got till Friday or I'm just gonna give to my favorite local charity. Don't miss out. How can you beat a $500 daily driver that will run forever??

I am about to put an 87 Saab 900 turbo on Autotrader but I wanted to see if any of you "rare" car collectors out there needed a daily driver.

This is a grey Saab 900 Turbo 5spd. It was purchased in Sweden and given to my fiance's father by the original owner 2 years ago. My fiance's father is a certified Saab nut and collector (this was his 5th). It was in such good shape that he gave it to my lady as a graduation gift.

She is about done with law school so she's getting a mini (couldn't talk her into a Z). But I'm puting in on Autotrader for a very negotiable $1000. This is a VERY sound automobile with burgundy leather interior and this past Feb had a full tune-up from the local Sweedish Motocars shop, including new distributor, cap, wires, plugs, ball joints, cv boots, front brake disks and pads, and I even put in a new (albeit target brand) cd player. Also included is an additional set of 5 stock wheels (4 for the set and a full size spare in case you were wondering).

This car is super reliable and surprisingly fast. As for condition, it is as good as a 22 year old car can be that was actually driven. Power windows and sunroof, everything works, and works with no issues. My girls dad put on the boost control module from an SPG (Special Performance Group) Saab that he had lying around. For the uninitiated, the SPG is SUPER RARE and this mod probably added about 30 hp to this car. He said the engines are identical and the only difference is the boost module so no reliability issues.

I know it's a long shot, but this car is quite the favorite among Saab lovers and a true import. It is pure magic in the snow so would make a great year-round daily driver. And for under a grand, I think it is a steal! List is higher even for this condition and the tires have about half tread or more.

If you have any interest whatsoever, let me know and I will post up any pictures you want of the car. If not, it's going on the Saabnet and Autotrader. Thanks for reading my ramblings.

One of my buddies I played ice hockey with in High School had one of these, real nice car, and pulled hard for back in the day. He searched high and low to find one of the SPG cars. No one could understand why he would wanted something so obscure, when most people our age at the time were working on our 93 civic.

There is a guy with a mint 87 SPG 900 Turbo with about 150k miles, who lives next to my fiance's dad. He wants $7k for the thing. They are SUPER rare, and the really sick Saab nuts actually pay that much for a 22 year old car. I thought it was cool that we had the SPG boost module. But the suspension isn't nearly as good.

If your friend is still interested in finding one, let me know and I can put him in contact with this guy.

Yes, YES.....you need a winter car.....(trying to hypnotize you).

I was planning on getting an add on Autotrader priced at $1000. But if I dont have to pay the $$$ for the add, I can afford to be flexible. Plus time is money!

I am always open to offers as long as they are reasonable. Again, if any one wants to come by to check it out, or drive it, just send me a PM. I am available after 4pm M-F and anytime on the weekends and I am near Tysons corner.

Default car specs

Ok got some data on the ride.

This is a 2.0 liter intercooled and turbocharged inline-4 cylinder engine. The hp numbers are varying. The best estimate we have is about 140 from the factory. But because it has the SPG boost module on it, we estimate around 170, and torque from 170 to around 190.

Mileage was at 169,000 about a year and a half ago when the odometer stopped working. Currently it probably isn't more than 185k.

As for reliability, this car has left us stuck in Arlington one time when the distributor gave out. We got a new distributor, cap, plugs, wires, two ball joints, two cv boots, and a full tune up for just under $600. The guy at Sweedish motorcars said everything we replaced except the plugs were original from the factory. Considering how much stuff costs on most cars, and for what we got, it was totally reasonable.

Up to that day, and ever since, the car has been a rock!!! We have driven it from here to Williamsburg many times without even a stumble. I have no issues with this cars reliability, whatsoever. As for parts expense, just take a look around at how many older saabs there are in the DC area and you will know right away there are tons of places that carry parts pretty cheap. There are also several sweedish car specialists around (we used Sweedish Motorcars in Falls Church).

But considering the disks and pads, engine electrical bits, ball joints and cv boots are all brand new, it would probably be several years before you have to put any money in this car, other than routine maintenance.

Quick funny story....... So the snow comes and I'm digging my Z out of my spot when the lady come out to go to school. I say, "I don't know hun, we might have to dig you out of your spot too. But give it a try, you never know....." Yeah there was barely wheel spin and she honk honked at me as she drove by me still digging out my Z. Moral, this car is a winter champion, and still handles better than most cars made today.

I hope this answers your question.
