Got a 6 over ticket 2 miles from the VA/NC state line. Had just sat my detector on the dash a few moments before this clown pulled me. Not even turned on (plugged in) yet. Asked me to turn it on so he could see if his detector detector would pick up the signal. It did, then he said it was illegal to even have it in view in the state of Virginia. Makes you want to dislike all cops because of this. Just last week got stopped for "blocking an intersection." Light turned green so I was going to make a left turn but was waiting for the on coming vehicle to either go straight or turn (guy seemed to be in his elder years). He turns on his signal at the last second to turn, by this time I'm under the light waiting for him to make up his mind. Guess what, two pedestrians decide to rush to near the intersection and cross and the older driver decides to wait for them. I am sure the light is red by now so here I am stuck. I finally proceed and made my turn. I see this cop four or five cars in line from the intersection make a U-turn and pull me over. He asked why was I blocking the intersection, I asked him why didn't he stop the pedestrians who were causing the tie up since they weren't in the cross walk and also the older gentleman that also caused the tie up. He gave me a warning which was BS. Just shows you can abide by the laws and still get hassled. Got off the subject about the detector but its done. Happy Holidays...

 

i thought the whole $1500 fine add on thing got turned back and is only for DUI now before it was for wreckless and at certain points.

 

it all depends on the state...some states if your DUI and get into an accident, its auto reckless or careless driving added on with other stuff.

 

He was talking about the "Civil Remedial Fees" that the Communistwealth of Virginia enacted this past summer... there are some informative stickies at the top of the Mid-A forum that describe them better, but basically you get the normal fines for whatever violation PLUS additional fines just for being a scum piece of society

 

+1 to VA then. hopefully more states will pass them.
