I don't think he's taking it personally. In case cp2 and some others haven't noticed...he has this little thing under his name called Moderator. I assume with this title he knows the TOU's of the site.

Some people may want to take the time to read them.

FYI, I too am surprised this thread isn't locked yet.

Well, if he is offended by the questions then I assume he'll see to it that it gets locked, but honestly...whats wrong with the thread that it needs to be locked?

General rule of FI: Whatever a sponsor's advertised price (ex. $9999 installed + tuned) add an extra 5-7k on top of that and that's the real price.

No reason to close the thread. People spend $1000's on what they think is a good idea and 5 months later have a differnet opinion. If they want to disclose that info thats on them but they can also give there opinions to before and after the install and whether or not they think it was worth it. Pun1sh3rz is a good example (not to toss you under the bus man)... he got a s/c for is car which he thought at the time was what he wanted for the price but changed it mind later. It's those guys that can offer advice from actual experience. Just my .02 :-)

exactly, 10K+ is not un-common just to throw a number for you. And yes I recently sold my supercharger that I purchased brand new in August and found myself not happy. You do only live once (previously mentioned somewhere in here) and I figure might as well while i'm young and live life to the fullest. I rode in the gold digger Z (thanks Ken!!! ) haha that put me over the edge to go w/ twins+built. I don't track the power is simply for me

about a week + a few extra days for extra parts overnighted from Japan if needed (which you'll always end up needing in 1 way or another)

Put it this way:

Twin turbos: save at least 20k.
Built twin turbos: save at least 30k.

It's also a good idea to have 5k extra just in-case something blows up/line gets crimped/something leaks/etc. Notice I also said "AT LEAST!" aka meaning bare minimum you should have in your pocket!

Aside from turbo kit, lets say... $9,999 installed right? You need accessories to make the turbos run optimally. Aka, breathing mods, put a checklist for:

Accessories: (Must have for any FI setup ANYWAYS! No cutting corners here!)

- APS Plenum - 400
- APS Strut Bar - 250
- UTEC + accessories - 850
- Bigger Injectors - 500
- RFS - 1000
- 1 Step Colder Plugs - 100
- Walbro 255 Fuel Pump - 150
- TD Exhaust - 1300
- 2.5" Test Pipes - 180
- Gauges, Gauge pod - 500-800 (depending on brand)
- Oil Cooler!!! ($250-$1200)

Installation from all the above accessories: 1.8k (I'm probably missing some)
Accessories Total: $7,000

Disclaimer: quotes above are generated through my sleepy brain and is in no way shape or form entirely accurate! Lookup the real prices using the search feature!

My exp. after 4k miles:
Power steering line rubbed against the turbos and leaked all over the place, had to replace a line.

^ Yea Anh's for real! Little things sure add up. First I was told that... 3k for the supercharger kit from BigSlim. We'll install it in my dad's garage. Then take the car to Function:Tuned to get a tune for $600 and we're DONE! Less than 4k and I could be supercharged. Of course it didn't turn out quite like that... I ended up getting headers, test pipes, new TD exhaust, gauges, return fuel system, UTEC, stock brembo brakes(don't ask, I thought with more power, you need better brakes to be safe), new pulleys, wastegate, 3 supercharger belts. Now don't forget to factor in the installation fee for all those parts. And even after all that is done, there're still issues (totally not the tuner/installer's fault): Supercharger overheat(running 15psi...) that needs a bigger and better intercooler, belt keeps snapping(again running 15psi and it's $100 each belt!) that needs to do some custom fab work to fix the issue. I don't even want to tihnk about the headache right now. Somehow shifting at 3k rpm solves all the issues! Going FI is almost like a lifestyle. It's money + dedication.

Amen ethan, thats why my procharger will stay at 9psi I have decided. Plus I already have all the extras UTEC, exhaust, TP's, yada yada...

It took a while to accumulate the supporting mods I need but from picking up used parts and parts from members on the forum I have spent way less than my budget hence a vacation to Vegas next month!
