I've attended a few in the past but Sunday will be my first time participating (woot!). It is usually a pretty open track where you can get up to speed, not the very tight courses I've seen elsewhere.

The Washington Region of the SCCA has two Autocross schools - Level one (beginners) and Level two (the next step) on 15 and 16 March. They are very intensive programs and have in-car instruction in addtion to running by yourself. The schools last most of the day and are an excellent way of learning and improving your skills as well as learning how your car handles. The cost per school is $180 - most of which goes to insurance coverage. If you're interested, go to www.wdcr-scca.org The registration information can be found under the Regional Monthly Events

there are a bunch of events before the ones listed on your schedule... ie: this weekend VIR full with the tar heel sports car club and triangle z club.
Redline time attacks as well here at the end of the summer.. VIR, Summit Point, and Nashville.
