Can you put wider tires on the stock 07 rims?

I ask because I like the look of the stock rims, and thought about doing wheel spacers to have the wheels look more flush, but I think wider ties would look better.

There is no perfect size tire for any wheel. Only a recommended range for contact patch and safety. For the Z I recommend OEM width plus or minus 10 mm.

If you want wider tires the right way to do it is get wider wheels.

 

Makes sense. I like the stock 18" front and 19" rear wheels that are on the Grand touring coupes...

you can always get the wheels widened. I thought about doing that with my track wheels actually. going 9 up front and 10.5 out back, it would be killer, but pricey

I have 265/40/18s on stock '06 rims (same as your '07 rims) They bulge a lil but seem to work fine! Look great too!! Have had zero problems with this set up!

 

Yes.

Use a offset calculator to compare your current wheels to the new wheels. With the new dimensions, check the car with a tape. Do you clear the suspension, brakes calipers and fenders? Reference: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Only had thm on a couple months. By bulge i mean cause the tread is wider then the rim. So it gives the look of bein a lil concave on the sidewall cause of where the bead of the tire sits on the rim. It's not bad looking. I actually like it, i think it gives it an agressive look. A different tire may not do that. I have goodyear eagle F1 GS-d3's.

I'm out of town now otherswise i'd take pics for ya.

People say you can go as wide as 275, but i think that'd be unsafe at that point, on our stock rim size.

+1 on the stock '07 rims. I like them as well, and was going to go the same route when the time came to replace the stockers. Wheel spacers and a wider tire should look ok, but probably not as good as a wider rim.

Any issues with using spacers? Can the suspension components handle them?

 

suspension can handle it...the only concerns are the spacers themselves. If they break or crack...now you have lose wheels. For the most part the upgrades in metal and heating have almost elimiated such possibilities. But heck even a rim has the chance of breaking..very slim, but possible.

I just would not go too large on the spacers....also plan on uneven tire wear.

I do own a pair of 5mm that I will put on the front one of these days....lol
now that I lowerd the front I want to push the wheels out around a half inch.
