Pay it. It's damn near imposible to fight tickets here. It's a commonwealth, so we get alot if not most our revenue from tickets and such. All fighting it is gonna do is pi$$ you off. lol
If it makes you feel any better i got a ticket this weekend for 51 in a 35 on a road tha twas 45 last week. The cop even told me they just changed the speed limit!! having lived here my whoel life, and gotten a ticket for just about everything shy of DUI, i'll just pay it.
Just be happy he was cool enough to not give you a wreckless (20+ over) they will chuck ya in jail with a quickness for that here. When you would of had to go to court!
Plus a wreckless carries the same points as a DUI!!

Id say fight it. If he read you at 72 and you are sure that you are going 65-68 MAYBE the officer's radar was not calibrated that day, so you can fight saying that his gun wasnt calibrated.
The cops need a certificate that the radar gun was calibrated everyday to make sure it works.
I dont know its up to you to fight it or not.(but im in MD so its not as bad as VA cops)

If a cop is gonna tell the judge his elaborate "rear radar" story, then i can gaurantee you he's gonna have all his ducks in a row, including up to date radar cal. Plus like everything, i'm sure they can "calibtate it" and make it legit before court if it was outta cal when he gave the ticket. This is revenue for the state, so if the cop says it was calibrated, and shows him some sort of paper saying so, he's gonna buy off on it!

I must say from personal experience, if you never ever plan on returning to VA and have a NY DL. Dont event bother since NY does not record out of state convictions. However if you will be returning to VA anytime pay it. I have only received 3 tickets in VA and now owe them $2700.00 for not going to court. First I was pulled for 72 in a 65 in pulaski, VA (on my way to TN from DC) in 2002, then it was 84 in a 65 in Shenendoah, VA (on my way to TN again) in 2004 (reckless, speeding in excess of 80 and driving on suspended) Then finally got flicked in 2007 (HOV infraction). So in closing if you have the dough go on and suck it up and pay it or take it to court and hope the trooper doesnt show (Back county cops always show). If you never plan on returning, forget about it just don't ever go back to VA.
The next time you ask for a print out and the officer refuses, tell him to write on the back of the ticket that he refused to show you the radar printout + have him sign it and bring that to court = automatic win.
