Default worried..

Watching TV with my dad and saw that over in korea gas stations are mixing water and gas together to make some more money, while F***ing up everyones cars. with gas prices getting so high i wonder if their gonna start doing that here. my friend told me that he knew someone that went a shell that sold regular as premium. the guy drove a g35 and he said it f***ed up his engine.

I doubt the water/gas thing would happen at any reputable station here in the States, but I have often wondered if I'm getting 91. How would we ever know?

there are regulations as well as inspections randomly at the pumps if something were to happen where it didnt meet government standards the station would be shut down. i doubt that companies like shell and exxon would run the risk of being sued like that. ur fine.

I was talking to some of my old rotary friends while he was in the process of finishing a law suit against one of his local gas station. This gas station was putting 87 octane on all pumps and selling it as 87, 89, 91, 93. My friend's RX-7 didn't even made it a mile down the street before the car **** an apex seal. This was in Ohio BTW.

BTW there are some new cars out there that can detect water in the gas.

I know if my car goes down 1 octane in gas, then another 1-3 miles down the road I will be in trouble. Found out first hand coming back across the country.

I'd be more worried about getting charged for an extra 1.5 gallons or so without it actually going in the tank! I've noticed several local stations here that as soon as you take the pump off the hook the gas goes up $.04, so small I don't even bother, but it makes me wonder. Haven't seen any irregular gas tank fill-ups though.

We don't have to worry around here. All the gas stations are owned by Arabs.

That, I believe, is more strictly monitored. All the pumps (at least here) should have a recent Weights and Measures inspection sticker on it. I worry a lot less about that than the actual gas I'm getting.

I doubt that this would happen since people still buy gas at these prices, if they didn't, gas stations would maybe consider 'lowering' the price and diluting the gas, but it is illegal to sell undercost due to competitive reasons. also most gas stations don't make money off the gas, its more the cigs, coffee, redbull and food they sell at mark up and mechanical services
