i think it would look really good on the Z

SEM Paints makes the hot rod black kit that was mentioned here. I have some experience with it, we have shot it quite a few times. Feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to answer them and share my experience with painting my car Matte Black. It was not an easy road.
We used several different brands and methods of paint and really none were all that easy. The Hot Rod Black kit was definately the easiest to use, you just pour it straight in and shoot. The difficult thing about it is getting it to lay down perfect. You cant wet sand it so it has to be perfect the first time, and you theres no room to adjust the sheen other than how wet/dry you shoot it. However SEM makes great paint and I was surprised at how consistant the paint kits were.
We also mixed flattener into Centari gloss black paint and to me that looked the best. The hardest part there was getting the sheen right. Also if you needed to repair or reshoot a panel and didnt give yourself enough extra your bummed! We ended up spraying the car 6 times before it finally came out right.
I am really not a fan of the matte clear coats. They really dont look right to me. Think that M3 vs the GTR thats kinda what you could expect. IMHO matte clear is really not the way to go. I can't really comment on using it with all colors but with black it just really doesnt look right.
Everything we used was very high quality I couldnt even imagine attempting this with cheaper paint.

From what I understand the "clear" coat is what gives the color the flat look. Instead of shine this clear coat dulls.......and the more you clear coat the flatter it gets. That was my understanding.....could be wrong......Im kind of thick sometimes.
My point....why wrap? Just paint!!!
