I've been looking for a place for awhile now and VA seems like my best option since I work in DC. I've looked all through MD especially Annapolis but it's not metro accessible and kind of far. So far I've narrowed it down to the Ballston area of Arlington and the Old Town area of Alexandria. Old Town seems to have a lot of old people but does have some great bars and restaurants. I'm basically looking for a nice area and want to be able to walk to shops, restaurants, bars, etc. So what do you think, Ballston or Old Town? Suggestions wanted...

I'll have some Luxury Condos ready to settle off Rhodes Hill in Arlington (b/t the 2 metros) in 12 mo.
They start at 1 mil. And yes...you get a gated garage. The're multistory units, 2 bedroom minimum.

check out a place called Shirlington..its in between Glebe and Kings St on I395.... if you have a little money check the Arlington, Clarendon area...but its not cheap...old town is pricey also.
There are plenty of places on Kings Street that are sweet, but you will have to catch the bus or drive to the metro.
i dont do metro, so when I drove to work (now I walk a football field to get there) I opted not to used Metro...dont like public germs....lol
Shirlington is an AWESOME area though...plenty of bars and places to eat out side and its not over crowded like some of the areas above.

there are plenty of places to eat anywhere right outside of dc. olde town prolly has more upscale places than clarendon and ballston. but if its for the bar scene and not so much the food then ballston/clarendon is where you wanna be.
Hey are you interested in renting out a room in a clean 2 bedrooms apartment for 5 months? I have a lease that ends the end of November. It's located a few blocks from Tysons corner. Metro Station (West Falls Church) is a mile away. PM me if you're interested. I'm looking for a new job in Baltimore so I need someone to take over the lease. The other bedroom is occupied by my friend who is extremely quiet and clean and works as an IT consultant like me.

. Do you need 1 or 2 bedroom? Check this one out, not bad for a 2 br around here.

I just rented a house in Falls Church, near Baileys Crossroads. Two car garage Huge house, Huge, Will be posting a feeler for a get together when I am settled into the place.
My suggestion, for as much money as these apartments go for around here you could get a house for the same price and not have to worry about annoying next door neighbors everytime you crank up your xbox.
I lived on Cap Hill (NE), prior to moving to Falls Church, Nice places there, no garage though. There are some really nice apartments on Columbia Pike that have garage parking.
Dont know if that helps but good luck. By the way I found the house I am renting in like 6 days. Pretty easy.
