Default How hard is it?

How hard is a full part out? I remember talking with Jordan (some might not no him but us old timers do) and he said parting out his car was a HUGH PAIN in the ###.

There is going to be a large number of Z's up for sale now because of the GTR (me I am going Lambo) so a part out seem's to be the only option if your looking to sell quick. I have mine for sale at 33k obo and nothing so far! Now its looking like parting out (motor and all) and selling a stock car for 12k is the only way to go. Sad and hurts but what can guys do at this point? My fear is I will still be stuck with a stock Z that I cant sell.

I was just looking to get thoughts/idea's about this. Somethings got to give I need 12k more in order to get my lambo!

Well from what I've seen, most part outs are easy. Since you have 24 iTrader points already and over 4k post counts, the sale should go fairly smooth for you IMO.

And 12k for a stock 350z is a steal. That is one hell of a deal.

^^^^ +1 for good rep.

If you nickle and dime all your mods it will take time but if you price everything for quick sale (good deals) and try not to think about what you
paid for them you should be fine. Post up a feeler on your part out and list
your parts and pending price and see how many people will want em
its a start.

Small part outs are somewhat easy, but a car like yours will be a pain, and will take time. Unless you sell dirt cheap, then it will go faster, but it will still be a pain. Hell, I put my car up as a feeler for a week maybe, and got tons and tons of PM's with nothing but lowballs and BS excuses. Good luck, maybe you can get rid of that S/C rather quick by giving me a good deal on it

I hope you sell your car and all but...If the only way you can buy a lambo is by selling your 30k Z then you shouldn't be buying a lambo. More power to you if you can make it work, but in this kind of economy we're in, I'd think about this move a little more.

Yes 12k is a steal. I can see it being sold in about a week or so.

That does not bode well for me...
I know parting out cars like ours is a rough experience, but it will be the only way to get a decent amount of $$$.

My thinking is as I am not in a real dire need for money I can wait it out trying to sell the whole car and see what comes after this recent Turbo article. I am hoping that will generate some additional interest on my Z. Otherwise I guess I wait till winter and go from there.

Good luck bro, no matter what, we both know we will be losing our shirts compared to the money invested and the time devoted to picking/choosing the parts.

Part out is a pain man. I've contemplated it as well but the cost and time just to get the stuff out is pretty significant. Interior...not too bad but you will need factory panels to replace. Exterior...same thing unless you saved stock stuff and want to fill where the skirts were. Engine...well here's where it gets a little worse...built motor back to a stock? ...gotta swap it... not cheap..but can be done. Just have to find someone who wants to do it and tyhe $$ to do it. They pay for labor in exhcange for cheap parts and mods is about the only way I can think of deferring the cost and getting the most out possible.

Not to mention u need to trust someone who will take everything out w/o breaking or harming stuff.

Unfortunately parting out is the best option for most...unfortunately it's still a really crappy option.

I'd definitely buy some parts off you. Local and Blue. We have made an exchange or two in the past. Keep us posted.

DO a part out. I have done that with all my previous cars. It requires some patience and letting go of some of your pride. I was selling my M a few weeks ago with parts on it, no one would bite because of the price. Once I parted out the car and sold off everything, I had a buyer for my car within the week at a more reasonable price range.

Must people cant and wont buy a car that they will be upside down on there loan or book value.

Part it! Good luck.

Part outs, even stuff posted for a quick sale, takes time and can be a real PITA. People put dibs in on stuff, you hold it for them, then they back out. **** happens. I still have Z stuff sitting around. Just be patient and you'll get there. The way I see it, I never invested ANY money into my car. Every dime I spent was for entertainment purposes. Therefore, any money you get back should be considered a financial gain... not the other way around. If you start comparing what you spent to what you get back, you may never mod another car again. Remember its not an investment, its a fun tax.

I always tell people no Dibs. You are only ready to buy if you have the money to buy at that time.

i get first dibs on everything toby is going to sell since i live closest in proximity

good luck man, I wouldn't even think of parting mine out. if you decide to take it on, i hope it goes well for you.

I've got mine listed for 30k and i have had no serious interest yet, so i'll prob just hold onto it.
