Default Getting Coilovers, Have a Question!

Hey folks,

I just put a DP on a set of coilovers for the Z, and I just had some questions about what Im gonna need with them. I've heard that if you lower the rear anymore than .8" or so, then you need negative camber adjustment arms. Is this correct? I don't mind buying em, I just need to know so I don't go through tires and run like a negative one billion camber degree.

Is there anything else I need or anyone suggests? Thanks much guys.

Hey Paul! Still remember me(Ethan)? We met at a Tysons Lunch Meet. Yea you definitely want to get rear camber kits if you're going to lower more than .8". Mine was lowered for like .5" and it was really hard to get it to factory camber spec. So to make everyone's life easier, I just got a set of SPC rear camber kits from Nopi online store for like $160 and solved the problem.

Yea Ethan I remember you! hahaha Your car sounds like a space ship! I actually stole that quote from my girlfriend who orginally said that when we were cruising with you all to the FT meet.

Dude so yea, I think I'm gonna be a baller JDM man and get the JIC camber arms. I know they all do the same thing.....I just like the gold and red/purple logo : P hahaha

Anything else I need?

Etan, which coilovers do you have? Thanks man.

Yes, get a camber kit. Dial it in as much as you can or you'll be going through tires like it's your job.

Any other plans for your suspension? Toss some 15mm spacers on those emo's after you drop it. Sexxxyyyyyyyy

Did you already get sway bars?

I have Tein Flex. I'm hoping to upgrade to something a little more serious later.

Sways and some endlinks, and get her corner balanced and you're good to go!

Yea I have cusco sways and SPL Endlinks. Good stuff! They do make a big difference. I have EDFC but I didn't wire it correctly.. lol. I have to like turn it on separately after I crank up my car and the setting doesn't get saved. I'm such a noob when it comes to electronic stuff. Tein is like an overly advertised brand in the US. I'm really hoping to save up and get some German coilovers like Bilstein. They're comfortable and perfect at the same time.

Who lied to you? LOL, notice all hardcore track enthusiasts never use Tein. Ask any reputable shop known to actually race their car: they never suggest TEIN. In fact, every single shop owner who knows about the business says Tein sucks for competition, however they're great if you want something noticably better than stock + ride height adjustable/comfy daily driver

However, 1 thing TEIN does a great job at is marketing their product to be super high-end bang-for-your-buck handling. But it ends there, If you've driven in cars equipped with higher-end suspension equipment (JIC, HKS Hypermax, Bilstein, Cusco) Yeah.. they might be in the 2k+ range, but as the old says goes..."you get what you pay for!"

Good choice on the Cusco Sway bars!

Nice dude, yea I've always liked TEIN, but it seems like JDM lately is not so JDM. Especially with some of these businesses going bankrupt or whatever in Japan, the American divisions are buying them out and redesigning parts it seems like.

But I decided to go with GReddy Type S Coils and I got the free electronic dampening system with it, so Im excited for it. I mean not like the best out there, but should be nice.

Good choice, greddy is nice and very comfortable. I hear they're the most comfortable coilovers on the market for the Z.

For real?? Well thats good. I mean all I want it something I can drive with everyday and have a low car. I don't need like super high end suspension. I don't even auto X or anything.

You'll love them for sure. The first time you lay in to the car on a nice road, you'll grin from ear to ear

So I finally installed my Cusco front and rear sways and SPC camber kit yersterday. Z is in some serious need of alignment but I guess the snow took care of that for today. lol I wasnt taken by the weight difference between the stock bars and Cusco.

Never stick with one vendor! They tend to get c0cky and think you NEED them. Just go for whoever that gives you the lowest price. It's not like the vendor built the product. They all bought their stuff from the same source. And where did I get mine? Junkyard of course! My car's a junkyard piece of scrap metal.

Well I mean, its not like anyone pressured me into getting em. But whenever I want a new part, I go to one guy and he usually hooks me up pretty good. I definitely shop around first, then he usually beats everyones' prices anyways.
