Racial Issue: Mid-A Interracial Couples Thread

Ok I know I'm like the drama king of Mid-A right after Anh and Bryce. But bare with me. This topic is quite sensitive and personal.
As some of you know I have been dating a half White half Asian girl. I guess she looks a lot more white than Asian so people always consider me dating a "white chick". I've dated a few white girls before so it's not really anything new for me. But this is like my first serious relationship with a "white girl" or at least someone who looks as white as her. Everywhere we go in the Mid-A region, we get weird looks and hear little comments here and there.
Last week, we went to an authentic Mexican restaurant(One that's owned and run by real Hispanics) in Glen Burnie. I overheard this Hispanic waiter saying, "Look at that ***** and the loose white girl. He probably has a lot of money." For your information, I can understand a lot of Spanish from taking classes in school and working with Hispanics back in my restaurant days. We were furious and left without giving any tips.
I can understand hearing comments from white guys who are just plain jealous because I "stole" one of their women. But hearing comments from other minorities all the time as well? What's going on?! Of course I'm not going to let this stop me from my dating life. I just want to hear you guys out on similar stories since I've personally met quite a few interracial couples here.
Now is this whole discrimination on interracial relationship thing common outside of Mid-A? I've heard that up in Boston it's actually the cool new thing for white girls to date Asian guys these days.

Corrected above. No such thing as Mexicans. It's Hispanics.

Don't sweat it too much man, I date a half asian half white chick too and she looks more white than asian... and I don't exactly look like I'm asian myself... Majority of people think im half black and white so I hear those kinds of under-the-breath talk alot.
I love haters, it lets me know im doing something right.![Smilie](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

well in this case, he was in a MEXICAN RESTAURANT.
If u go to a Korean Restaurant and call someone Chinese its not right.. but if u go to a Chinese restaurant and call someone chinese i dont see a problem... u go into a Mexican Restaurant and call someone Peurto rican, thats wrong. why are u in Mid a anyways.

Here's a little letter from a real Mexican for you.
There is a new revival taking place in many parts of the United States, Mexican Nationalism is strong and people who are from Mexico or have Mexican Heritage, want to be called Mexican, not Hispanic. Why is this? Well, as it has been explained to me by many Mexicans in California - they do not wish to be lumped in with Central Americans, South Americans, and Cubans. They are Mexicans, not Hispanics.
This may cause an issue for Hispanics that are not from Mexico, and hurt their strength in numbers. Often Cubans, want to be called Cuban, not Hispanic and they have significant numbers and unity to stand on their own, without being lumped together either. Many from Guatemala want to be called Guatemalan, not Mexican, because they say they are better and harder workers.
Why do Guatemalan workers say they work harder? Because, as they explain Mexicans are lazy, because they have learned it from Americans and now wish to kick-back and collect free monies from the government or do the minimal and get paid for it. Some Americans who hire Hispanics wish to hire workers from Guatemala for this reason. Whether or not Guatemalans work harder or not is debatable say many, as it is the individual that is either a hard worker or a slacker.
Surely, most Americans are slackers, but not all Americans are. This is the point that Mexicans make when confronted with this issue. Some Mexicans see Guatemalans as less educated and do not see themselves as the same. Maybe we need to all agree to stop calling everyone who looks Hispanic, Hispanic. Rather, call them what is most appropriate and to their liking. Sincerely, Lance.
